Opportunity Elan Industries is seeking an experienced
PCB Designer
with
Altium experience
to join our Design team in Bolingbrook IL. In this role here at Elan you will be collaborating closely with the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering team in a fast‑paced environment focused primarily on custom embedded controls for commercial and high‑end residential market.
Compensation: $75k-110K depending on experience
Responsibilities
Designing printed circuit boards (PCB).
Entering/Building schematics from high level designs and reference designs using existing parts libraries wherever possible.
Provide librarian services by creating and managing all component symbols and decals for Elan’s library environment.
Organize many existing designs into reference design block elements to maximize re‑use and optimize development efficiency.
Optimize layout for UL, IEC and EMI spacing requirements.
Designing with consideration for thermal heat‑sinking of hot components.
Optimizing design of sensitive Switch‑Mode Power Supply (SMPS) circuit layouts.
Calculating impedances and stack‑ups as required for USB, WiFi, Bluetooth sensitive layouts.
Optimize test pad design/layout for ICT and functional test.
Thoughtful DFM, with attention to mfg keep‑aways, spacings, polarities, poka‑yoke design, etc.
Maintain and grow Elan’s PCB Design Guidelines/Best Practices policy and documentation.
Qualifications and Skills
PCB design experience is required.
Experience with Altium is desired.
Hands‑on experience designing Switch‑Mode Power Supplies is desired.
Librarian experience creating and managing parts is desired.
Hands‑on experience with impedance calculations, stack‑up design as required for USB, WiFi, Bluetooth circuits.
Familiarity with databases and MRP systems like MiSys is a plus.
Associate’s Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering is preferred but not required.
US Citizen or Permanent Resident card. Elan will not host a J1 work visa.
