TheSeniorDirector of Finances serves as a strategic partner to the CFO and executive leadership, leading the organization’s accounting operations, external financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions. This role ensures financial integrity, transparency, and operational excellence while advancing technology to enable efficiencies and process improvements. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and establishing a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of APA’s reports, financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. TheSeniorDirector of Finance will lead a high performing team, strengthen financial infrastructure, and support strategic decision making across the organization in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES

Managetheaccountingoperations,includingtheaccountingsystemandstaffwithinthe accounting office;Establishand maintain system of internal controls

Partner withthe CFO to support strategicplanning, financial modeling, and long-term sustainabilityinitiatives.

Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions and oversee the accounting operationsof subsidiary systems,includingtheircontrolsystems,transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.

Identifyopportunities to improve financial performance and operationalefficiency.

Overseemonth-end,year-endcloseandauditprocesses.

Continuously evaluate,improve,anddocumentsystemofaccountingpoliciesand procedures

Supervisestaff,toincludeassigningduties,establishcleargoals,performance metrics,professional developmentopportunities,andmentoring.

FinancialReporting& Analytics

Preparesmonthlyandannualfinancialstatementsandmanagementreports,includingdashboards,KPIsandvisual reportingtools to enhance organizationalreporting.

Delivertimely,accurate,andinsightfulinterimandyear-end financialstatements

Coordinatetheprovisionofinformationtoexternal auditors fortheannual audit

SupportstheCFOindevelopmentofreportsandotherinformationtotheTreasurer,Audit,Investmentand Finance Committees

Compliance& RiskManagement

Responsibleforcompilingandfilingrequiredreportsandtax returns andassociatedregulations whereapplicable.

Ensuretimelyandaccuratefilingofgovernmentand non- governmentcontractreports.

Responsibleforpreparationandtimelyfilingofform990and requiredreturns.

CashManagement

Ensurethat accountsreceivable arecollectedpromptly

Ensurethatperiodic bank,investment,andsubsidiarysystemreconciliations arecompletedtimely

Responsibleforestablishingandmanaginganactivecashmanagementprogram.

Coordinate,asneeded,transfersamongtheshortandlong-termaccounts.

Work is performed with wide latitude in making decisions within the limits of overall programobjectives.

Decisions and actions have a considerable impact onthe Finance department’soperations and may affect other departments aswell.

May oversee one or more revenuestreams.

Will activelyparticipatein budgeting activitiesfor the department.May have budget development and monitoring responsibilities for functional areas withinthe financedepartment.

Relationships span levels internally and externally and center on advancing strategic relationships critical to the achievement of APA’Smission.

Advanced diplomatic skills are used to persuade key decision-makers to take recommended but sometimescontroversialactions.

Utilizes diplomacy, innovation and creativity when resolving non-routine matters that impact achievement of departmental goals andobjectives.

Collaborates with outside organizations, consultants, vendors, and other organizational partners in a manner thatdemonstratesexpert knowledge of the department or program as well as an advanced knowledge of theorganization.

ORGANIZATIONAL KNOWLEDGE

Demonstrates a broad knowledge of entire organization and external factors of importance to business strategy and uses knowledge toassistin the development and execution of businessstrategy.

SUPERVISION

Directly manages2employeesand indirectly manages3additionalstaff members on the finance team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor'sdegreeinaccountingandaminimumof 10yearsofprogressivelyresponsible experience, of which at least 4 in a similar capacity.Certified Public Accountant.

Knowledgeoffinance,accounting,budgeting,andcostcontrolprinciplesincludingGenerally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Knowledgeofautomatedfinancialandaccountingreportingsystems.Demonstratedexperience withSageIntacct accounting system and/orothercloud-basedERPsystemssuch asHost Analyticsstronglypreferred.

Working knowledgeoffederalandstatefinancialregulations.

Abilitytoanalyzefinancialdataandpreparefinancialreports,business plans,statements,andprojections.

Professionalwrittenandverbalcommunicationandinterpersonalskills.

Ability toparticipatein andfacilitategroup meetings. Position will interact with Directors and Executives,managers,andstaffatalllevelsoftheorganization.Mustusetheutmostdiscretion inallpresentations/correspondenceandcommunicationforstaff,BoardofDirectors,andCEO.

Demonstratedsuccess leadingandeffectivelymotivatingteamstoproducequalityresultsand deliverables within tighttime framesand simultaneously manage several projects.
