
Vice President of Lending

The Vice President of Lending is responsible for the overall leadership, direction and performance of the credit union's lending functions. This role oversees consumer, real estate, commercial and indirect lending, as well as collections, ensuring sounds credit risk management and a strong member experience. The Vice President of Lending plays a key role in driving loan growth, maintaining asset quality and supporting the credit unions' strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Provide leadership and strategic direction for all lending functions, including consumer, mortgage/real estate, commercial, indirect lending, and collections
Drive loan growth while maintaining strong credit quality and risk management practices
Oversee underwriting standards, loan approvals, and portfolio performance
Monitor and manage credit risk, delinquency, and charge-offs
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
Lead, coach, and develop the lending team to achieve performance goals
Collaborate with executive leadership and other departments to support organizational strategy
Develop and maintain strong relationships with members, business partners, and vendors
Analyze lending trends and implement strategies to improve efficiency, profitability, and member experience
Qualifications and Experience:
Proven leadership experience in lending within a financial institution (credit union experience preferred)
Strong knowledge of consumer, real estate, commercial, and indirect lending, as well as collections
Demonstrated experience in credit risk management and portfolio oversight
Self-motivated, driven, and results-oriented with the ability to lead through change
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
Ability to balance growth objectives with sound risk management
