The role We're hiring a Director of Brand Design to lead the brand design team across all of Scribd, Inc. This is a new role for us, and it comes at a moment when brand design is becoming increasingly important to how we build and evolve our products.
You’ll own brand design for Scribd, Slideshare, Everand, Fable, and the Scribd, Inc. corporate brand. That means maintaining the strong visual identities already established in Everand and Fable, while developing a more intentional brand design approach for our UGC products like Scribd.com and Slideshare. You’ll also shape the Scribd, Inc. brand as the company continues to grow.
This role reports to the VP of Design and works closely across Product, Research, Design, and Marketing. You’ll lead a small team with room to shape its direction, structure, and future growth.
We're looking for someone who can coach designers, contribute directly to the work, and bring a systems mindset to how brand design scales across a multi-brand portfolio. If you get excited about building something new, raising standards, and making a brand a strategic force inside a product-driven company, this is the role.
Lead and develop the Brand Design team
Manage and mentor a small team of brand designers working across a multi-brand portfolio.
Define what "great" looks like for brand design at Scribd, Inc. and hold that bar consistently.
Provide direct, specific feedback that improves both the work and the people doing it.
Own career development and performance management. Address gaps early and clearly.
Contribute directly to design work. This role is hands‑on, not just managerial.
Build systems and scale brand design
Develop and maintain scalable brand systems, templates, and guidelines across all five brands.
Bring consistency and quality to brand expression across product, marketing, and corporate surfaces.
Partner with Marketing and Product to develop a brand design approach for our UGC products that matches the standard set by Everand and Fable.
Build processes that enable the team to deliver high‑quality work efficiently and repeatedly.
Identify opportunities to use AI as an accelerant in the team's design process and production workflows.
Strengthen cross‑functional partnership
Work closely with Product Design, Research, and Marketing to ensure brand thinking is embedded in product decisions, not bolted on after.
Contribute to the Design org’s broader strategy, hiring, and bar‑raising efforts.
Represent brand design in cross‑functional conversations with clarity and confidence.
Help shape how the brand supports Scribd, Inc.’s evolving product strategy across all four products.
The essentials
10+ years of professional design experience with a strong foundation in visual communication and brand design.
5+ years of experience leading or managing brand designers or production designers.
Demonstrated ability to coach and develop designers while directly contributing to the work.
Experience building brand systems, templates, and scalable design processes.
Strong communication, presentation, and cross‑functional partnership skills.
Comfort working across multiple brands or products simultaneously.
Strategic thinker who can connect brand decisions to business and product outcomes.
The application
Resume.
Portfolio that demonstrates strong visual design, brand systems thinking, and leadership across multiple brands or product lines.
