Program dates June 1st, 2026 – End date: August 6th, 2026

Location NYC Hybrid (up to three days per week on‑site)

Company Equipment Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.

Weekly schedule 28 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one‑hour lunch break.

Pay rate $17.00/hour

As an HBG editorial intern at

Artisan & Workman , you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands‑on professional experience as you own day‑to‑day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings.

Artisan & Workman’s hybrid summer intern will support our team by assisting editorial staff with projects. We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to learn about the nonfiction adult illustrated publishing industry and be part of a creative team.

To enhance your work experience, we offer educational sessions featuring speakers from all departments of the company and networking and career development opportunities.

Who you are

Interested in exploring a career in nonfiction adult illustrated books spanning a variety of subjects, including cooking, pop culture, travel, and design.

Self‑starter with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with a small team

Possess excellent organizational skills

Resourceful with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and work independently

Must be results driven, and take appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed

Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiar with Adobe Suite, a plus

What you will learn

Log, review, and draft feedback on manuscript submissions

Research industry and lifestyle trends with the goal of creating resource documents for the editorial team

Learn the process of developing a nonfiction adult illustrated book

Learn about the different aspects of the production process

General administrative duties
