Careers - Senior Technical Editor (onsite/hybrid)
HTRI seeks an individual to create, manage, and revise software documentation; edit, format, and revise technical documents and presentations; and assist with preparation of supporting images (including schematics and graphics). This position offers a hybrid schedule, with some workdays at our Navasota, Texas headquarters.
Principal Responsibilities
Edit and compile software documentation projects. Ensure well-constructed online help projects that are consistent among the various software components. Work with Software Development, Engineering Services, and Research teams to provide end-users with an effective point-of-use references.
Edit (both online and hard copy) and format documents, including electronic rendering of supporting graphics. Work with Engineering Services to ensure consistency and quality of documents.
Format technical presentations and posters. Ensure that content is presented in accordance with the HTRI Style Guide and conventional grammar standards, conveying information in an intelligible manner to a global audience.
Develop and present sessions on writing techniques and related software tools. Serve as a resource for staff requiring assistance with written communications and online output of both technical and nontechnical materials.
Qualifications
BA or BS in English, Technical Writing, or Journalism OR BA or BS in a STEM discipline with a minor in Technical Writing
Master of standard word processing and graphics software used by HTRI; familiarity with topic-based authoring and publishing for software documentation
Proven ability to meet deadlines
Good communication and presenting abilities (both oral and written)
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
5 – 10 years of similar work experience
Individual must already have authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
