Primary Purpose To assist in the facilitation of the daily golf operations which includes: maintaining a platinum level of service to members and guests; assist with management of outside operations staff; manage daily operations of the golf shop and golf course; Retail Inventory - help manage and physically count merchandise in an effort to successfully manage inventory levels; Tournament Preparation - prepare, organize and take part in tournaments and weekly events as assigned by the Director of Golf and Head Professional.
Experience Required Requirements
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and understanding of typical golf course procedures.
Age 21, valid Driver's License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
Reliable and predictable attendance.
Present a positive, professional image, clean and neat appearance.
Must be self‑motivated and customer service oriented.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
Note: May require CPR/First Aid and AED certification; training will be provided by Desert Highlands.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Position is in a private residential and golf community in N. Scottsdale.
Must be able to frequently sit, stand, bend, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., and to lift overhead and push/pull, move lighter objects.
Must be able to frequently stand, walk, sit and bend.
May require reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents, store materials, or arrange floor displays throughout the workday.
Proper lifting techniques required.
May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files, computer printouts or merchandise on occasion.
The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions including high temperatures.
The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Essential Responsibilities 1. Golf Shop Operations
Full knowledge of all opening and closing procedures of the golf shop
Assist in managing the daily tee sheet
Communicate with outside operations, starter, directional and player assistant of all changes
Assist membership in booking tee times through Club Essentials
Stay updated and current on all upcoming events scheduled throughout the year
Manage all aspects of directional when working in directional station
Ensure the group arrives from the range 8 minutes before their tee time
Ensure the group heads to the tee 3 minutes before their tee time
Manage the first tee when starting
Record the starting times, transportation choices, and cart numbers for all groups
Make groups aware of the standard of play policy
Manage the golf course for the enjoyment of all when working a player assistant shift
Greet all groups on golf course and keep detailed documentation of pace of play issues
Inform the Director of Golf of all issues that negatively impacted play
Assist in the management of golf shop supplies
Maintain and stock inventory of daily operation supplies for the golf shop including: gloves, golf balls, scorecards, tees, pencils, matches, ball marks, cart tags, proximities, and tee sheets.
Take precise and thorough phone messages. Answers phone to proper standards.
2. Retail Operations
Work with the Buyer in maintaining a neat and organized floor area.
Assist in special ordering and shipment receiving on a daily basis
Assist with monthly inventory of all merchandise
Fold and hang apparel and refresh all displays throughout the day
3. Tournament Operations
Assist and become knowledgeable in all aspects of set‑up operations including; scoreboards, cart tags, proximities, staging area set‑up and billing charging.
Credit Book - Check to make sure tournament winners are properly entered into the credit book with correct dates and description of event.
Make proper copies of tournament results and enter into the correct files.
Manage the tournaments and events assigned.
Develop a break even Profit and Loss
Market the event ahead of time
Ensure the tee sheets are properly set up for the event
Ensure all jobs are assigned to staff for the event
4. Handicaps
Daily check all handicap computers to confirm their operational status.
Receive all information; handicap cards, GHIN information.
Update all course rating material and conversion material.
Keep accurate records of all additions and deletions to the system.
Charge and/or credit all additions and deletions to the system.
Maintain complete knowledge of the handicapping system and all pertinent handicap information.
5. Club Repair
Maintain and inventory all stock items necessary for in‑house club repair work including: grips, tape, and fluids.
Document and keep accurate records of all in‑house and out‑of‑house club repair work.
Update all charges and credits for all club repair work.
Keep club repair area neat, clean and organized at all times.
6. Teaching Operations
Assist in all daily scheduling of lessons for all teaching assistants.
Assist the Director of Instruction when needed
Restrict lesson time to times not scheduled for golf shop duty.
Keep updated on times needed for clinics and group lessons.
Ensure proper club fittings for Members
7. Miscellaneous Duties
Assume responsibilities of Head Golf Professional in his/her absence.
Maintain playing ability and work to stay competent in all areas of your golf game.
Restrict practice times for all times not scheduled for shop duty.
Be prepared to fill in at all times in any capacity within the golf operations.
8. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment, with continual emphasis on promoting employee health and safety. Assists in training colleagues in proper safety techniques.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
