We are hiring on behalf of our client, a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism.
Our client is seeking a Director of Innovation & Emerging Technology to lead the discovery, evaluation, and implementation of innovative technologies that enhance independence, communication, employment opportunities, and overall quality of life. This role will be based at a newly developed innovation hub designed to function as a living laboratory, where emerging tools and ideas are explored, piloted, and integrated into real-world service environments. The Director will collaborate cross-functionally with program leadership, IT, staff, and external partners to bring impactful solutions from concept to implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and evaluate emerging technologies with potential to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Research areas including assistive technology, AI, smart environments, communication tools, and virtual learning platforms
Monitor trends across healthcare, disability services, education, and technology sectors
Design and implement pilot programs to test new technologies in service environments
Assess effectiveness, usability, and scalability of solutions
Document findings and provide recommendations for broader adoption
Partner with program teams to integrate successful technologies into daily operations
Provide training and guidance to staff on new tools and systems
Ensure measurable improvements in independence, engagement, and skill development
Develop relationships with technology providers, universities, and research organizations
Identify and pursue grant and funding opportunities to support innovation initiatives
Represent the organization in external innovation and technology collaborations
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Innovation, Human Services, or related field
5+ years of experience in technology innovation, program development, assistive technology, or applied research
Experience leading pilot programs or innovation initiatives
Strong interest in emerging technologies and practical application
Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Excellent communication, research, and presentation skills
