PreSchool Programs are located at T.C. Cherry Elementary School, Bowling Green Learning Center, and Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School.

Performance Responsibilities

Provide day‑to‑day oversight of the preschool culture and programming including, but not limited to, student transportation, breakfast/lunch needs between classrooms and cafeteria, parent & staff concerns, home visits, program supplies, and Brigance testing sheets.

Serve as a communication liaison between classroom and district‑level administration and collaborate with the Director of Communication to develop and disseminate information from the district.

Monitor the behavior/academic intervention, RTI, and behavior intervention plans.

Facilitate weekly lead teacher planning and/or training including scheduling and communicating professional learning for teacher and staff.

Ensure standards to meet ECERS are maintained.

Monitor the alignment of classroom instruction to the preschool standards and facilitate the use of developmentally appropriate practices.

Communicate timelines for any required assessments and ensure accuracy of data collection and reporting.

Communicate assessment results with the district and conduct data analysis with lead teachers.

Conduct classroom & playground observations that include walkthroughs using ECERS and provide coaching and feedback to teachers.

Monitor and facilitate child find, including advertisements and public relations materials with each school and outside agency.

Make continuous effort to identify new students through a variety of avenues, including but not limited to, visits to community agencies and businesses to share promotional materials (e.g., cultural centers, apartment complexes, housing authority, Salvation Army).

Share information with the school’s front office on students eligible for OLR.

Organize each month’s screening and schedule with parents (including reminders of their screening time).

Collect required documents for referrals – eye, hearing, proof of residency.

Collaborate with the DOSE and maintain an ongoing transition list of First Steps students.

Ensure teachers are completing necessary recording keeping.

Completion of Preschool tab in Infinite Campus.

Maintaining preschool folders.

Recordkeeping for RTI and Intervention.

Enter student information into appropriate databases that ensure licensing is up to date (e.g., TSG, KEDS, Brigance).

Complete state reporting of December 1 and March 1 count and end of the year reports for KDE with input from the district office.

Facilitate kindergarten transition between preschool and elementary schools.

Schedule and facilitate kindergarten visits at all BGISD elementary schools.

Attend kindergarten PLCs for transitioning both regular and special needs students.

Prepare preschool bus drivers for routes at the beginning of the year by scheduling meetings, preparing paperwork, and monitoring and maintaining communications to keep transportation working throughout the year.

Coordinate transportation for new student enrollments.

Train new bus monitors on developmentally appropriate practices.

Attend community meetings and relay necessary information to administration and lead teachers (e.g., DEIC, CECC, United Way Kindergarten Readiness committee member, WKU Head Start Advisory Council, RTC Coordinators Meeting).

Attend Head Start Transition family events and share information about the preschool program.

Connect families to outside agencies and help in scheduling appointments such as those related to medical and mental health.

Plan and implement parent involvement activities throughout the year.

Facilitate parent advisory council meetings.

Participate in community events/information fairs.

Adhere to the professional Codes of Ethics adopted by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.

Evaluate all preschool staff as required by policy.

Maintain appropriate professional appearance.

Act as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.

Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.

Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, Superintendent and School Based Decision Making Council.

Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.

Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Instructional Programs, District Administrative Staff, or Superintendent of Schools.
