Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented

Freelance Video Editor

to edit high-quality video content for digital news and multimedia platforms. The ideal candidate has strong storytelling instincts, technical editing skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

This role focuses on shaping raw footage into polished, engaging news segments and short-form digital content.

Key Responsibilities

Edit raw video footage into compelling news packages and digital segments

Trim clips, assemble sequences, and enhance storytelling flow

Add lower-thirds, captions, transitions, graphics, and basic sound design

Balance audio levels and correct color when necessary

Ensure accuracy of names, titles, and visual context

Optimize videos for web and social media platforms

Meet strict deadlines and manage multiple editing assignments

Collaborate with reporters, producers, and editors to refine content

Qualifications

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Film, Media Production, Journalism, Communications, or related field (students encouraged to apply)

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar editing software

Strong attention to detail and storytelling ability

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Basic understanding of journalistic standards and ethics

Preferred Skills

Experience editing news or documentary-style content

Familiarity with motion graphics (After Effects or similar)

Knowledge of video formatting for Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and web

Basic audio mixing and color correction skills

Applicants must submit 2–4 editing samples showcasing pacing, storytelling, and technical ability.
