We are seeking a dedicated Welder/Steel Erector who is responsible for fabricating and assembling steel structures by interpreting technical drawings, operating welding and metalworking equipment, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards in a dynamic construction environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Erect ladders, stairs, and scaffolding to assemble large structures.
Design and construct templates and fixtures using hand tools.
Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences.
Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or assemble metal components.
Lay out and examine metal stock or workpieces to ensure specifications are met.
Tack-weld fitted parts together.
Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.
Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to workpieces using measuring devices.
Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or material requirements.
Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Proficiency in operating fabricating and welding equipment.
Past experience in welding various thicknesses.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices accurately.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience and/or AWS Structural Welder Stick Certification (D1.1).
Can safely lift up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, stairs, and climb out of ditches.
Comfortable executing welding tasks with high proficiency at heights of 100 feet and above.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Reliable transportation to job sites.
