Director Internal Audit

What You’ll Do As the
Director of Internal Audit , you will lead the City’s internal audit function, providing independent assurance that operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. Reporting to the City Attorney and Internal Audit Committee, you will oversee audits across all City departments and City Utilities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a risk-based annual audit plan
Lead financial, compliance, and performance audits in accordance with professional standards
Evaluate internal controls, financial integrity, and operational effectiveness
Prepare and present audit reports with clear findings and actionable recommendations
Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure corrective actions are implemented
Manage and develop Internal Audit staff
Collaborate with City leadership, departments, and external auditors
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
Minimum seven (7) years of internal or external audit experience
CPA, CIA, or equivalent certification preferred
Strong knowledge of auditing standards, internal controls, and risk assessment
Proven leadership, analytical, and communication skills
