Job Title: Income/Franchise Tax Manager (SALT)
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid/On-site)
Compensation: $121,000 – $181,400 + Annual Bonus

Income/Franchise Tax Manager , you won’t just be crunching numbers; you’ll be a strategic advisor. You will deliver a full suite of tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to a diverse client portfolio. From day one, you’ll be empowered to lead multi‑disciplinary teams, defend against audits, and identify innovative structures to reduce tax burdens.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement Management:
Direct and monitor multiple client service teams; plan and execute tax projects across various industries while maintaining strict budget oversight.
Technical Excellence:
Deliver comprehensive SALT services, including tax return preparation/review, technical research, drafting memorandums, and counseling clients through state audits.
Strategic Consulting:
Conduct multi‑state reviews (Income, Franchise, Sales/Use, Payroll) to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, and credits.
Team Leadership:
Actively manage, develop, and mentor staff; provide real‑time feedback and conduct performance reviews to foster professional growth.
Business Development:
Support growth initiatives by identifying new opportunities, developing proposals, and participating in pursuit activities.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Certification:
Active
CPA license
(required). JD with active law license or CMI (Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation) also accepted.
Experience:
Minimum of
6 years
of progressive tax compliance/consulting experience, specifically within
Public Accounting .
Expertise:
Deep technical knowledge of State Income Tax and Franchise Tax.
Communication:
Exceptional written and verbal skills for high‑level client correspondence and technical drafting.
Travel:
Ability to travel as needed to meet client and project demands.
