Overview
System One is seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Designer to support industrial projects from concept through installation. This role will focus on developing detailed mechanical and structural designs, producing fabrication-ready drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution in active industrial environments.
Responsibilities
+ Develop mechanical and structural design packages from concept through construction and installation
+ Produce fabrication-ready drawings including:
+ Dimensions and tolerances
+ Weld symbols
+ Material specifications
+ General and detailed notes
+ Incorporate field measurements, as-built conditions, and constructability considerations into design work
+ Support layout development and equipment integration within active industrial facilities
+ Coordinate directly with engineers, fabricators, and site personnel to resolve design, installation, and fit-up challenges
+ Participate in site visits, field verification, and construction/start-up support as required
+ Contribute to internal design standards, quality assurance processes, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
+ Experience in industrial mechanical design; experience in steel or aluminum manufacturing environments strongly preferred
+ Working knowledge of fabrication practices, welding standards, and industrial materials
+ Proficiency with mechanical design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
+ Ability to produce clear, accurate, and fabrication-ready drawing packages
+ Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering teams, contractors, and plant personnel
+ Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a small-team, high-responsibility environment
