SVP Finance – Real Estate Investor / Developer

A premier lower Manhattan-based real estate investment and development firm is seeking an experienced VP Finance / Controller to partner directly with two principals, lead all finance and accounting functions, and help drive major projects—including a flagship office-to-residential conversion—across a premier commercial and residential portfolio. This position will lead a team of 5-6 individuals and will play a key role in strategic decisions around acquisitions/dispositions, development deals and financing/lending relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end financial infrastructure of the company, leading the financial reporting process, month-end close and driving scalability as the portfolio grows
• Act as the financial executive for complex real estate entities, joint ventures, and capital structures, balancing precision with speed in a dynamic environment
• Translate asset-level performance and development activity into clear, decision-ready insights for ownership and capital partners
• Drive financial processes across large-scale redevelopment and conversion projects, from underwriting through stabilization
• Proactively identify risks, efficiencies, and opportunities within operations, capital structures, and cash management
• Coach and mentor a lean accounting and finance team while modernizing systems and processes to support long-term growth

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in accounting, finance, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in real estate accounting and finance, ideally with exposure to development and construction projects
• Prior experience working with company leadership and overseeing staff
• Experience with real estate accounting software (MRI, Yardi, AppFolio, RealPage)
• CPA or MBA a plus

Location:

On-site, lower Manhattan

Salary:

$200,000 - $275,000 plus bonus and benefits
