The Director of Data & Business Intelligence is responsible for leading our data strategy, analytics infrastructure, and AI-driven insights initiatives. This role is responsible for transforming data into a competitive asset by building scalable data platforms, delivering actionable business intelligence, and integrating AI/ML capabilities that drive measurable business impact.

As a key partner in our business, this leader will bridge strategy and execution, building and scaling modern data planforms while elevating how the organization leverage data to drive growth, efficiency, and competitive advantage. The ideal candidate brings a balance of strategic leadership and hands on expertise, with a proven ability to deliver measurable business impact through data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the enterprise data strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish governance frameworks ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of data engineers, analysts, and data scientists.
  • Act as the executive steward of data across the organization.

Business Intelligence & Analytics

  • Oversee the design and delivery of dashboards, reporting frameworks, and self-service BI solutions.
  • Define KPIs and standardize performance measurement across departments.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for executive leadership.
  • Drive adoption of BI tools and data literacy initiatives across the company.

Data Architecture

  • Design and optimize modern data architecture (data warehouse/lakehouse, ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs).
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of data systems.
  • Evaluate and implement best-in-class data technologies and platforms.

AI & Advanced Analytics

  • Lead the integration of AI/ML solutions into business workflows (forecasting, optimization, automation, predictive modeling, etc.).
  • Identify high-impact AI use cases and develop a roadmap for implementation.
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to deploy AI-enabled features and analytics products.
  • Stay current with advancements in generative AI, automation, and advanced analytics to maintain competitive advantage.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Legal to align data initiatives with strategic priorities.
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support strategic planning with advanced modeling and scenario analysis.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in data, analytics, or BI roles, with 3+ years in leadership.
  • Experience working with FP&A, Finance/Accounting, Operations, and Sales functions.
  • Strong expertise in data warehousing, data modeling, ETL/ELT, and cloud data platforms (e.g., Data Bricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure).
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Domo, Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
  • Proven experience implementing AI/ML solutions in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and scale technical teams.

Preferred

  • Background in a fast-growing or transformation-stage organization.
  • Manufacturing and construction management / trenchless industries experience.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, and modern data stack tools (dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, etc.).
  • Experience with generative AI, LLM integration, or AI-driven automation.
  • Familiarity with MLOps frameworks and model lifecycle management.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP, Hyperion, MuleSoft, Salesforce, B2W and Rippling HRIS.
  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen.
  • Executive communication and storytelling with data.
  • Change management and organizational influence.
  • Technical depth paired with practical implementation skills.
  • Results-driven and outcome-oriented.
