JOB OVERVIEW:

While audiences see drama, romance, and unforgettable moments unfold on screen, behind the scenes is an immersive production environment that requires structure, discretion, and strong people leadership. ITV America’s Director/Senior Director, People will serve as the senior People leader for the East Coast and a trusted advisor to the Chief People Officer, and executive leadership team, ensuring that creative excellence is supported by consistent people practices, sound judgment, and a respectful, high‑performance workplace culture.

The scope of this role includes leadership of the East Coast People function, oversight of employee relations strategy and complex workplace investigations, and ownership of core HR generalist responsibilities across the employee lifecycle. This leader will partner closely with executive producers and senior business leaders to provide strategic and real‑time guidance on performance management, organizational effectiveness, conflict resolution, and workplace conduct, while supporting recruitment, engagement, and broader people initiatives across the region.

During active production cycles, this role embeds with production teams on location, serving as the on‑site people authority and a visible, trusted resource for cast and crew. The position requires flexibility to align with production schedules, including extended hours and multi‑week travel, in support of immersive filming environments. Success in this role requires a highly adaptable, emotionally intelligent leader who can navigate complex interpersonal dynamics, influence senior stakeholders, and provide steady, credible leadership in fast‑paced, high‑pressure settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (OFFICE)

  • Serve as the senior people leader for the East Coast, setting regional people priorities and ensuring alignment with enterprise‑wide strategy while providing hands‑on leadership across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Partner with the CPO and CEO on senior‑level employment matters and contract negotiations, exercising discretion and sound judgment in high‑visibility situations.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to managers, senior leaders, influencing key people decisions and coaching leaders through performance and organizational challenges.
  • Design and lead a proactive employee relations strategy that promotes accountability and a respectful, speak‑up workplace culture, including oversight of sensitive and complex workplace investigations.
  • Oversee and ensure excellence in core HR generalist functions across the employee lifecycle, including policy interpretation, performance management, disciplinary processes, leaves, and separations.
  • Partner in shaping and advancing regional talent acquisition, performance management, employee development, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Champion employee engagement and culture initiatives that reinforce ITV America’s values and strengthen collaboration and performance across teams.
  • Foster connection and professional growth through thoughtfully designed engagement and development initiatives aligned with company culture.
  • Ensure people policies and practices align with applicable federal, state, and on‑location employment laws, proactively mitigating compliance risk across the company.
  • Lead and contribute to strategic people initiatives, including process optimization, systems enhancements, and the implementation of tools that strengthen effectiveness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (FIELD PRODUCTIONS)

  • Serve as the on‑site People authority during active productions, leading employee relations efforts and managing high‑volume, real‑time workplace matters with discretion, neutrality, and sound judgment, while navigating brand, reputational, and talent considerations inherent in high‑visibility productions.
  • Support productions comprised of cast and crew from diverse cultural and geographic backgrounds, navigating cross‑cultural dynamics and addressing a high volume of employee relations matters in fast‑paced, immersive environments.
  • Maintain a visible and approachable presence on location, building trust with cast and crew while aligning availability with extended hours in production schedules.
  • Provide counsel to production leadership, crew, and talent, proactively addressing interpersonal dynamics and resolving issues before they elevate.
  • Coach production leaders through complex performance and conduct matters, offering clear guidance and structured pathways for resolution.
  • Ensure consistent application of ITV America’s policies and workplace standards, reinforcing a culture of professionalism, inclusion, and accountability on set.
  • Continuously assess workplace climate, identifying morale, compliance, and conduct risks, and partner with production leadership to proactively mitigate potential issues in immersive filming environments.
  • Ensure production practices align with applicable employment laws, company standards, and appropriate working conditions across filming locations.
  • Travel domestically and internationally for extended production engagements, operating with flexibility to support dynamic filming schedules and integrating seamlessly into close‑knit, high‑performing teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience with deep expertise in employee relations, including conducting and overseeing complex workplace investigations.
  • Demonstrated success working in fast‑paced, creative, or non‑traditional work environments; preferably supporting television, film, or other production environments.
  • Proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive matters with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Experience operating at a mid/senior level HR leadership role supporting a region, business unit, or complex workforce.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently (including internationally) and work extended or irregular hours during production periods is essential.
  • Ability to operate autonomously while partnering effectively with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics and work effectively with a wide range of personalities in high‑pressure environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The pay range for this role is $150,000 - $185,000 annually. Base pay may vary depending on a number of individualized factors, which may include education, skills, and experience. This role is also eligible to participate in the company’s Discretionary Executive Bonus Plan, subject to the terms of the plan.
