
Indirect Tax Specialist

We are seeking a detail‑driven Indirect Tax professional with strong hands‑on experience in U.S. sales and use tax compliance across multiple states. This person will manage filings, support process improvements, reduce compliance risk, and partner closely with Finance and IT to strengthen systems and controls. As our operations expand, this role may evolve into broader indirect tax responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, file, and oversee multi‑state U.S. sales & use tax returns
Reconcile sales/use tax accounts and ensure timely remittance
Manage exemption certificates and supplier exemption issuance
Respond to tax notices and support state/local audits
Monitor nexus thresholds and ensure timely state registrations
Processes, Systems & Controls
Maintain and support ERP tax configuration(JDE/SAP ideal)
Partner with Finance + IT on process enhancements and automation
Support internal controls and documentation for audit readiness
Research & Cross‑Border Support
Research emerging indirect tax requirements (e.g., gross receipts, environmental levies)
Assist with Canadian GST/HST, excise, and property tax as needed
Support broader compliance and Finance initiatives
Must‑Have
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related
Minimum 3 years of U.S. sales & use tax compliance(multi‑state preferred)
Strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
Preferred
Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
Familiarity with JDE, SAP, and/or tax software (Avalara, Sovos)
Knowledge of Canadian indirect tax rules
