Responsibilities
Interpret and apply the California Revenue and Taxation Code and perform complex appraisal work of residential, commercial, and business personal property.
Apply standard appraisal principles and techniques to value real property such as small to mid-sized commercial and industrial properties, apartments, and large acreage holdings.
Provide technical guidance and training to subordinate appraisers.
Travel extensively throughout the County, and may be assigned to any work location in the County.
May be assigned to the Residential, Business or Commercial Division.
Currently seek appraisers with commercial valuation experience to fill vacancies in the Commercial Division.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have the skills and abilities to apply appraisal principles and techniques in the appraisal of property; apply statistical techniques to property appraisals; recognize structural, economic, and environmental factors affecting cost and depreciation of improvements; and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Hiring Timeline and Date
Job offers and background process begins shortly after interviews.
Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years
of recent experience as an Appraiser II in the County of San Diego or equivalent position in another California County Assessor's Office;
OR ,
Five (5) years
of recent professional experience appraising real or personal property.
