The Ogema Public Library seeks a well-organized and energetic leader to direct the library operations. This position is for 10 hours a week. The library is part of the IFLS Library System and MORE system.
The library serves a community of 1,293 in northern Wisconsin with 562 registered library users. The Town is located in Price County in the shadow of Timm’s Hill, Wisconsin’s highest geographical point and the gateway to miles of adventure. Ogema is a small community with friendly faces and hard-working people with deep roots in logging, lumbering, and railroad operations.
Responsibilities The Library Director reports to a 7-member Board of Trustees and is responsible for the overall management of the library. Essential duties include building and maintaining our collection, managing the library budget, supervising the library staff, and promoting the library within the Town of Ogema and the surrounding area.
Qualifications Grade 3 Wisconsin Public Librarian Certification or eligibility for required certification within 4 years of hire date. Three to five years of public library experience, or five years of experience in a service institution with comparable demands and responsibilities (i.e., staff supervision, working directly with the public, working with governing boards or bodies). A bachelor’s degree or associate degree is preferred. The ideal candidate shall also possess excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with their staff, the Board, the Town of Ogema, and community organizations. Knowledge of current library practices, technology, and trends is required.
Compensation: Pay commensurate with experience and education with a yearly salary of $10,500. Benefits include vacation, sick, and holiday time.
