Tax Associate – State & Local Tax (SALT)
A leading law firm is seeking a Tax Associate to join its State & Local Tax (SALT) practice in New York. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex state and local tax matters for a sophisticated client base, including corporations, partnerships, and high-growth businesses across multiple industries. Responsibilities
Advise clients on a broad range of state and local tax matters, including income, franchise, sales and use, and other indirect taxes Support clients in state tax controversy matters, including audits, administrative appeals, and litigation Conduct research and analysis on multi-state tax planning, nexus, apportionment, and compliance issues Assist with structuring transactions to optimize state and local tax outcomes Draft legal memoranda, client alerts, and other written work product on SALT developments Collaborate with partners and other practice groups on transactional matters involving state tax implications Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting state and local taxation Qualifications
JD from an accredited law school Active bar admission in New York 3+ years of experience in state and local tax at a law firm or accounting firm Strong academic credentials and legal research skills Experience with SALT planning, controversy, and advisory matters Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively in a fast-paced environment For more information regarding this position or other tax opportunities, please reach out to fiona.miles@jcwgroup.com.
