Working Title: SENIOR PUBLIC HEALTH NUTRITIONIST - 64034321

Your Specific Responsibilities

Certify clients for participation in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC Program) according to the WIC Manual DHM 150-24. Provide nutrition counseling, education and follow-up services to WIC Program clients. Promote and support breastfeeding among WIC clients.

Develop nutrition care plans and document information in the WIC data system. Follow policies and procedures for collection, entry and management of data as well as operation of the WIC data system (FL WiSE) according to the WIC User Manual for clinic.

Create high‑risk nutrition care plans for medical high‑risk clients and other high‑risk clients. Ensure scheduling of follow‑up counseling sessions. Perform anthropometric duties to include hemoglobin as needed.

Provide group nutrition education classes to WIC participants as needed. Design nutrition educational materials for use in the WIC Program.

Assist with training of new WIC nutrition staff in the certification and counseling process. Assist with the development and evaluation of the nutrition program plan and other documents as needed for the WIC Program.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including attending meetings and seminars as needed for the WIC Program and completing EARs reports, nutrition education activity reports, etc.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of normal nutrition principles and food needs throughout the life cycle.

Ability to determine nutritional needs and nutrition education plans for individuals who are and are not at medical high nutritional risk.

Ability to provide nutrition education to others in groups or individual instruction.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Qualifications Minimum

Florida State Licensure as a Dietitian/Nutritionist (Florida Statutes Chapter 468 Section 509)

Bachelor’s degree required

Valid Driver’s license

Preferred

Ability to fluently speak, read, and write in English and Spanish

Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends

At least 1 year of WIC experience
