Tax Analyst
Department Accounting & Finance
Summary The position is a key member in the Finance and Accounting department and supports the timely and accurate fulfillment of the Company's tax liabilities and obligations. This function is essential to the team that acts as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights and support optimal business decision making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Format GL data for import into tax provision and return software using existing templates.
Update software and templates as needed for new entities.
Monitor sales tax information provided to our external tax preparer; set up new locations for sales tax as needed; work with the accounting data team to resolve data discrepancies.
File quarterly federal excise tax returns.
Address federal or state notices/inquiries as needed.
Work with the accounting team to maintain legal entity accounting to ensure the accuracy of taxes on a legal entity basis.
Reconcile tax GL accounts as required by the accounting department.
Calculate quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments.
Work with accounting personnel to post entries and make tax payments in a timely manner.
Assist the VP of Tax with the following: fulfill information requests related to the tax audit by our external audit firm; assist with federal or state tax audits as needed; provide information to our external tax return preparer to complete tax returns well in advance of the filing deadlines.
Education and Experience
5+ years’ experience in an accounting clerical or paraprofessional position. Experience with tax data and income tax filings and e‑filing is extremely desirable.
Experience in public accounting firm or corporate accounting environments or some combination required.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
Exceptional organizational skills and advanced proficiency in Excel required; experience with accounting systems helpful.
Congenial personality who will work well with internal and external contacts. Team attitude required.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to type and look at a computer screen for long periods of the day. The employee must be able to sit for long periods of time.
