JR101540## **Advertised Position Title:**Assistant Director, TRIO/Veterans Upward Bound## **Job Description:**The Assistant Director is responsible, with the leadership of the Director, for the enrollment of the Veterans Upward Bound program provision and documentation for low income, first-generation veterans who are interested in pursuing postsecondary education.**Essential Functions:*** Working in collaboration with the Director, conducts assessments for program parti to determine individual needs and appropriate services.* Assists in supervising project programming and research experiences.* Provides support to participants regarding undergraduate/graduate/career trade school admissions and financial aid.* Provides academic advising as well as college, career, financial aid, financial literacy, and scholarship activities for eligible participants.* Assists in developing and implementing new participant orientations.* Supports establishing and maintaining collaborative efforts both on and off campus to identify opportunities for TRIO participants.* Provides support for the completion and submission of Annual Performance Reports.* Designs and implements activities and services to increase retention and graduation rates of current and eligible program participants.* Coordinates collaborative student-driven activities including applications and financial literacy.* Maintains a student caseload consisting of and provides program participants with one-on-one personal, academic, and financial aid counseling.* Responsible for the administration of tutoring services to program participants in addition to working collaboratively with Academic Support Centers, The Center for Campus and Community Connections, and community partners to identify additional support participants.* Provides direct supervision of the TRIO VUB Program Specialist and VUB Project Coordinator.* Serves on committees as assigned or supported by the program director.**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*** Assists in supervising project programming and research experiences.* Provides support to participants regarding undergraduate/graduate/career trade school admissions and financial aid.* Provides academic advising as well as college, career, financial aid, financial literacy, and scholarship activities for eligible participants.* Assists in developing and implementing new participant orientations.* Supports establishing and maintaining collaborative efforts both on and off campus to identify opportunities for TRIO participants.* Provides support for the completion and submission of Annual Performance Reports.* Designs and implements activities and services to increase retention and graduation rates of current and eligible program participants.* Coordinates collaborative student-driven activities including applications and financial literacy.* Maintains a student caseload consisting of and provides program participants with one-on-one personal, academic, and financial aid counseling.* Responsible for the administration of tutoring services to program participants in addition to working collaboratively with Academic Support Centers, The Center for Campus and Community Connections, and community partners to identify additional support participants.* Provides direct supervision of the TRIO VUB Program Specialist and VUB Project Coordinator.* Serves on committees as assigned or supported by the program director.**Minimum Requirements:*** Bachelor's degree* Previous experience working with veterans, disadvantaged and/or underrepresented students on a college campus or in higher education.* Experience supervising student and professional staff.* Experience working with veterans, military veterans' programs, financial aid and financial assistance processes is required.* Experience with TRIO Programs as staff or program participant.* Demonstrated commitment to working with multi-cultural populations and awareness of issues affecting women and minorities.**Preferred Qualifications:*** Master's Degree* Preference for anyone who has served in the military or had a spouse or family member serve.**Job Classification:**Staff**Duty Days:**260 Days**Work Schedule:**Monday - Friday**Grant Funded Position:**Yes - Grant Funded**FLSA Status:**United States of America (Exempt)**Pay Basis:**Salary**Hiring Range**$44,400.00-$49,950.00**Retirement System:**SERS - SERS (Retirement System Classification)More than 1,380 full- and part-time employees contribute to Owens' success.
