**Reports to:** SVP, Store Development

**Team:** 3–5 direct reports**Role Overview**The Director of Store Purchasing is responsible for leading procurement strategy and execution for J. Crew’s Store Development program, supporting new store openings and remodels. This role oversees fixture sourcing, vendor management, and procurement operations to ensure projects are delivered **on time, on budget, and aligned with brand standards**.The Director will drive process improvements, cost efficiencies, and the adoption of digital tools to enhance forecasting, purchasing accuracy, and team productivity. This role partners closely with Creative, Construction, Finance, and Operations to ensure seamless execution across the store pipeline.**Key Responsibilities****1. Procurement Strategy & Execution*** Execute sourcing strategies for fixtures and store development materials* Identify cost-saving opportunities through competitive bidding and value engineering* Align purchasing plans with annual capital budgets and project timelines**2. Fixture Design Development & Creative Partnership*** Serve as the **primary bridge between Creative/Visual teams and external vendors**, translating design intent into technical specifications and production-ready solutions* Partner closely with Design and Visual Merchandising teams across both brands to **interpret concepts and materials, and finishes into executable fixture designs*** Lead the development process from concept through production, ensuring alignment on **cost, manufacturability, durability, and timelines*** Collaborate with vendors to **create shop drawings, prototypes, and material samples** that accurately reflect design intent* Provide guidance to Creative teams on **cost implications, value engineering options, and scalable design solutions*** Ensure final fixtures maintain brand integrity while meeting operational and financial requirements**3. RFP & Sourcing Management*** Manage the RFP process from scope definition through vendor selection* Evaluate bids, conduct cost analysis, and recommend supplier awards* Ensure competitive pricing and strong contract terms**4. Procurement Operations*** Oversee team execution of:

+ Fixture takeoffs

+ Purchase order creation

+ Delivery tracking and issue resolution* Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with project schedules**5. Vendor Management*** Build and maintain strong supplier relationships* Monitor vendor performance (cost, quality, delivery)* Resolve issues and drive continuous improvement**6. Financial Management*** Manage procurement budgets tied to store development* Track cost savings and purchasing efficiency* Partner with Finance on forecasting and reporting**7. Process Improvement & Digital Enablement*** Improve procurement processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual work* Support implementation of procurement systems and tools* Introduce basic analytics and reporting to improve decision-making**8. Risk & Compliance*** Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement standards* Identify and mitigate risks related to vendors and supply chain**9. Team Leadership*** Lead, mentor, and develop a team of purchasing professionals* Set clear goals and performance expectations* Foster a collaborative, accountable team environment**Qualifications*** Bachelor’s degree required (Supply Chain, Business, or related field)* 8–12 years of experience in procurement or sourcing, with leadership experience* Experience in retail store development, construction procurement, or fixture sourcing preferred* Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills* Experience with procurement systems (SAP, Ariba, Coupa) and Microsoft Office* Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentWe welcome you to apply, even if you don't check all the boxes. The base salary offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region of work premises, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
