Position Summary
The Territory Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales and building strong relationships with customers, distributors, and key influencers in the agricultural industry within the assigned region. This role focuses on promoting crop protection products and services, while managing sales objectives, forecasting, and supply management. The ideal candidate will have extensive field and sales experience in the crop protection industry and be skilled at communicating with customers, product managers, and other stakeholders. Position Summary

This role focuses on promoting crop protection products and services, while managing sales objectives, forecasting, and supply management. The ideal candidate will have extensive field and sales experience in the crop protection industry and be skilled at communicating with customers, product managers, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will act as the technical expert supporting the sales needs in their assigned territory.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a degree in agriculture and at least 3 years of field and sales experience in the crop protection industry. Candidates with experience working in cotton and rice and exposure to the following cropping systems are preferred – corn, peanuts, and soybeans. They will have a thorough understanding of the US crop protection industry. The successful candidate will show
strong interpersonal
skills and be equally skilled at communicating with fellow colleagues at the university and private level, product managers, salespeople and customers. Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in translating detailed scientific information into practical decision-ready information for non-technical clients is required. Must be a self-starter able to take initiative and conduct themself in a professional manner with little direct supervision. The successful candidate will be a dedicated team player and thrive in the role of being the lead technical expert supporting the sales needs in their assigned territory.

Full-Time Salaried Reports to: Regional Sales Manager P&L responsibility Sales—establishing and meeting budget objectives Expenses—budget and manage sales support expenses including daily business activity, business promotion and communications General business functions such as forecasting, supply management, territory communications Handling performance inquiries fairly Establish relationships with those who influence the business Ascertain preferred way to market, consistent with Gowan USA’s capabilities Distribution management—gain support and rapport Distribution field locations—develop a few champions Key growers to balance input and support product Commodity groups and others who influence buying Advocate the Territory within Gowan USA and educate Gowan Company Find how to suit Gowan USA’s resources and direction to the region Champion ideas for new product opportunities and uses suitable for the region Plan business 2-3 years out Determine products for focus Propose trials needed for development work for new opportunities within portfolio Forecast needs for future opportunities and growth Establish or grow Gowan USA’s reputation in the Region Gather intelligence to fit into our global information mosaic Build presence as a company dedicated to agriculture
Education
Other Duties as required.
Advanced degree in Plant Science, Weed Science, Agronomy, or related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree with significant field and sales experience in the crop protection industry will be considered.
Experience / Skills / Abilities
Minimum of 3 years of field and sales experience in the crop protection industry. Experience in the Southern US geographic area is preferred Strong knowledge of agricultural practices and crop protection products within the assigned region. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in translating scientific information into actionable insights for non-technical clients. Proven ability to build and manage relationships with customers, distributors, and key influencers in the agricultural industry. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision. Team-oriented with a commitment to supporting company sales objectives and building a strong presence in the region.
Job Expectations / Working Conditions
Ability to travel frequently within the assigned territory to meet with customers, distributors, and attend industry events. Work both independently and as part of a larger sales and technical team. Ability to handle seasonal workloads and longer hours during peak agricultural periods. Must be able to work in field conditions and perform hands-on tasks related to product demonstrations and field trials. Strong commitment to achieving sales goals and promoting the company’s values and services in the region.
