POSITION: Social Media Manager & Customer Service Intern (must be a resident of Yellowstone County)
ORGANIZATION: Yellowstone County Elections Office
COMPENSATION: $17.00 per hour/temporary (paid position)
NOTE: This position may be subject to overtime during peak election periods.
POSITION OVERVIEW The Social Media Manager & Customer Service Intern will work closely with the Election Administrator to support voter education initiatives and ensure clear, accurate communication with the public. This is a hands‑on role that plays a meaningful part in the democratic process at the local level.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Create, schedule, and manage content across official social media platforms to promote voter education, registration deadlines, polling locations, and election updates.
Serve as a point of contact for public inquiries via phone, email, and in-person, providing accurate and helpful information to voters.
Assist in developing and distributing educational materials and campaigns to inform the public about the voting process, eligibility, and election dates.
Support staff during late voter registration periods and assist with Election Day logistics and operations.
Perform general office duties including data entry, filing, correspondence, and other tasks as assigned by the Election Administrator.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in a degree program in Communications, Marketing, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related field
Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, etc.)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills
Interest in civic engagement and local government
