OVERVIEW Like many other professions, CFOs and their teams face considerable headwinds. From trying to combat fraud to hiring, retaining, and promoting staff amid economic uncertainty, corporate finance teams must have their ears to the ground on what’s coming next. ESG, cybersecurity, and technological advancements all shift how financial teams operate. Beyond helping the CFO navigate corporate America’s complex structures, there’s also an opportunity to help financial professionals translate their work for C‑level executives, board members, and shareholders. Through humor and empathy, we help more than 100,000 corporate financial executives understand their role by reporting on both strategic and tactical levels. We’re looking for a reporter to ideate, research, and create journalism to take this vertical to the next level.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Pitch, report, and write stories and other journalistic endeavors for CFO Brew via newsletter, on‑site articles, and other distribution venues.
Generate ideas for, and lead/co‑lead, creation of non‑newsletter editorial initiatives, enterprise pieces, and evergreen content as we build out a digital home.
Conduct research to support key stories and inform longer‑term projects.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Interest and expertise in business writing and reporting.
At least 3 years of journalism experience.
Knowledge of corporate finance.
Ability to write in the Morning Brew style (engaging, informative, clever).
Understanding of how to analyze and draw conclusions from structured and unstructured data.
Experience leveraging multiple platforms (email, social media, etc.) to engage the target audience.
Self‑starter attitude with ability to operate in a collaborative, quickly‑changing environment.
Combination of attention to detail and creative, strategic thinking.
Excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
Ability to thrive in a high‑pressure environment with tight deadlines.
COMPENSATION $75,000–$85,000 per year. Final offers will be commensurate with experience. The total offer package includes benefits highlighted below.

BRIEF BREW HISTORY Morning Brew Inc. was founded in 2015 by two entrepreneurial college students who noticed their peers were not consuming legacy media resources about business and finance news, but had a high desire to learn about those topics. What started as a small on‑campus email has since evolved into a multi‑channel media company operating 20+ unique content franchises, all while maintaining a witty, honest, and engaging tone that millions of loyal MBI audience members rely upon daily. In 2020 a majority stake was acquired by Axel Springer SE, and in February 2025 that position was increased to full ownership. Axel Springer SE is a family‑owned, transatlantic media company headquartered in Berlin and New York committed to the values of a free and informed society.
