Examples of Duties The work involves serving as an entry-level intermediary between the Division of Information Support Services (DISS), and various departments throughout the county, including but not limited to the Departments of Health, Labor Relations, Personnel, and Probation. The incumbent may perform or assist with a variety of DISS technical support services including installation, troubleshooting, user assistance, and training. Functions may include diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents, planning and analysis of work processes, researching and reporting trends and patterns of problems, and assisting with computing/information system training sessions, maintaining problem tracking databases, assisting with installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software, assisting with backup and recovery operations, and consulting with staff to identify needs and requirements. The work is performed under the direct supervision of a Senior Technical Liaison (DISS) or administrator. Supervision is not a function of this position. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

Assists DISS staff and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications in compliance with department specific rules and regulations;

Assists countywide programs to revamp workflows by providing technical guidance and expertise;

Interfaces with technical staff to resolve system issues for Erie County employees;

Assists with generating reports from information entered into programs used by county employees, including subscription-based productivity service applications, email, desktop virtualization, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, multifactor authentication programs, helpdesk ticketing systems, collaborative platform and document management systems, collaboration platform video conferencing and messaging, password management, remote desktop assistance and county third party or in-house applications; Assists with developing training materials and procedures, or training various departments’ staff in the proper use of hardware or software; May install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications and escalates to higher-level DISS staff as needed; May prepare evaluations of software or hardware, and recommend improvements or upgrades; Refers major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service; Assists with analyzing machine stops and taking appropriate action;

Reviews and assists with correcting inputs to determine if all data is complete prior to entering jobs to be executed.

Minimum Qualifications

A) Possession of an Associate degree** or sixty (60) credit hours** and one (1) year of experience in Information Technology technical support; or

B) Graduation from high school; two (2) years of experience in Information Technology technical support; or

C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

NOTE: *Per resolution presented to State Civil Service Commission, action approved and filed with the Department of State on December 22, 2025, under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide (HELPS) Program, this title is temporarily reassigned to NON-COMPETITIVE Classification.

NOTE 2: Possession of one of the following may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience: CompTIA A+ certification, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, Google IT Support Professional Certificate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect-Associate.

NOTE 3: **Your degree or credit hours must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.
