The Flooring Installer independently installs, repairs, and replaces carpet, sheet vinyl, and vinyl plank (LVP/LVT) in residential apartments, remodels, and light commercial settings while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The role requires strong subfloor preparation, layout accuracy, material fitment, and consistent adherence to manufacturer guidelines and professional communication. Installers also mentor Junior Flooring Installers and support the Lead Installer with workflow coordination, quality control, and jobsite efficiency. Essential Functions: Independently installs carpet (stretch‑in or glue‑down), sheet vinyl, and LVP, meeting quality, safety, and schedule requirements Removes existing carpet, sheet vinyl, and LVP; prepares substrates for new installation Performs subfloor inspection, cleaning, patching/skim‑coating, minor leveling, and moisture testing as required Accurately measures, layouts, cuts, and fits flooring materials; installs carpet pad, transitions, trims, and basic carpet stair sets Installs underlayment and finish components appropriate for soft flooring and LVP installation Uses hand and power tools safely, including knives, rollers, scrapers, tapping blocks, pull bars, spacers, and basic saws when required Prepares jobsites by protecting adjacent surfaces, furniture, and fixtures to prevent damage Stages, carries, and organizes roll goods, LVP cartons, adhesives, underlayment, and tools to support installation workflow Supports baseboard and trim removal/reinstallation as required for flooring transitions Identifies and resolves common field conditions, including door clearances, transitions, and substrate variations Maintains clean, organized, and safe work areas; protects finishes in occupied units and follows all company safety policies including PPE, dust control, and ergonomic lifting practices Documents daily progress, materials used, measurements, and punch items; communicates clearly with tenants, property staff, supervisors, and teammates Coordinates with other trades to support overall project workflow and maintain schedules Mentors Junior Flooring Installers in safe practices, layout assistance, installation techniques, and quality standards Adheres to all manufacturer installation guidelines and company quality expectations Other Functions: Assists punch/warranty items and touch-ups Loads/unloads vehicles and maintains tool organization Participates in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions Supports jobsite cleanup and final presentation Interacts professionally with customers and tenants Coordinates with other trades to maintain project schedules Assists Lead Flooring Installer with planning and workflow as requested Mental and Physical Demands: Regular lifting and carrying of 50–75 lbs, and occasional lifting of up to 75-100 lbs Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and floor-level work Prolonged standing and walking on hard surfaces Exposure to dust, adhesives, noise, and construction debris Requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and physical stamina Supervisory Responsibilities: May assist in guiding Junior Flooring Installers but has no formal supervisory duties Core Competencies/Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required 2–5 years of professional flooring installation experience Proficient in layout, cuts, seams/repairs, transitions, and occupied-unit protocols Strong understanding of subfloor preparation and moisture considerations Ability to read and follow layout plans and manufacturer specifications Strong communication, collaborative, and team mindset Ability to mentor Junior Flooring Installers Valid California driver’s license with clean driving record Professional Benefits:
