Job Summary The Marketing & Communications Graduate Assistant plays a vital leadership role in supporting and overseeing marketing efforts across 25+ departments and sub‑areas. This position offers hands‑on experience in marketing strategy, social media management, team leadership, and creative content production while building an extensive professional portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 10 student staff (graphic designers, videographers, photographers, and social media/marketing assistants), including conducting regular meetings, overseeing schedules, and delegating projects to ensure timely and high‑quality deliverables. 40%
Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager to brainstorm, develop, and execute strategic marketing campaigns supporting the Student Affairs division and institutional initiatives. 20%
Oversee project management processes, including campaign planning, workflow coordination, meeting participation, and maintaining brand consistency across all initiatives. 20%
Direct and contribute to multimedia content creation, including graphic design, photography, videography, and social media management/oversight. 10%
Support event marketing and coverage through on‑site filming, photography, live content creation, and post‑event media production. 5%
Other duties as assigned. 5%
Required Qualifications
Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Be enrolled full‑time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
Must be working toward a marketing, communications, or related degree.
Previous experience managing social media for a business.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Time management skills and able to work independently.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Experience in marketing, communications, media production, or related field preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with graphic design, photography, videography is a plus.
Working toward a marketing, communications, or related degree.
Valid Driver License.
Proposed Salary
A monthly stipend of $1000.00 per month.
A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.
