Senior Process Mechanical Designer

Position Summary The Senior Process Mechanical Designer is a senior-level, direct staff position within a process mechanical design team. This role is responsible for leading and executing detailed piping and equipment layout designs for pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and other advanced manufacturing facilities.
In close collaboration with engineering and construction teams, this position ensures that designs are compliant, practical for construction, and aligned with on-site project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop detailed process piping and equipment layouts for manufacturing facilities and laboratory environments.
Develop high-purity process and clean utility systems in accordance with ASME BPE standards.
Create, coordinate, and review detailed 3D piping models within a VDC/BIM environment.
Generate and review piping isometrics and orthographic drawings using design software.
Interpret and work from P&IDs, process flow diagrams, specifications, and datasheets.
Partner with engineering and construction teams to enhance constructability and project efficiency.
Perform site visits for field verification and provide ongoing design support.
Review and validate models, drawings, and overall project documentation for accuracy and quality.
Provide technical support during construction, startup, and commissioning phases.
Stay up to date with industry standards, codes, and evolving design technologies.
Qualifications
610 years of hands-on experience in process mechanical or piping design.
Solid background in designing and supporting the construction of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or similar manufacturing facilities.
Experience in semiconductor or other piping- and equipment-driven industries is a plus.
Strong understanding of ASME BPE standards, high-purity systems, and clean utility piping design.
Experience working in a VDC/BIM environment is required; skilled in 3D modeling, including piping isometrics and orthographic drawings.
Associates or Bachelors degree is preferred, but not mandatory.
Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities and design deliverables.
Open to regional travel as required.
