Location Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary Provides design support to the campus community and the Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) department. Supports interior design activities and meets stewardship responsibilities for design excellence, campus standards, appropriateness, safety, and durability. Involves effective client relations management and works with construction management, external design professionals, and university stakeholders on interior finish and furniture selection for a variety of project types including classrooms, research laboratories, libraries, office spaces, recreation, athletics, etc.
Responsibilities
Supports the department on interior design activities, including furniture and materials selection, layouts, coordination, and installation, may include submitting requisition to purchase furniture, verifying space dimensions, creating an inventory of existing furniture, scheduling relocation of furniture, documenting relocation of occupants, producing layout drawings, and coordination of power and data locations
Manages stakeholder engagement, selection, procurement, scheduling, and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E)
Provides interior design concepts for minor studies and proposed renovations
Completes administrative tasks related to procuring furniture, installing furniture, and documenting receipt of furniture
Obtains and reviews quotes from vendors for furniture purchases
Discusses the quote with vendor as needed and complies with statewide contracts for FF&E, scheduling meetings with vendors and manufacturers as needed
Works closely with vendors to determine the best solution to meet the needs of the University and project stakeholders in alignment with established budgets
Manages the materials library including meeting with vendors to update and maintain product information
Assists with documenting interior design standards and best practices
Tracks performance of furniture and finishes for inclusion on future projects
Ensures design recommendations follow established governing rules, regulations, guidelines, and/or policies
Coordinates furniture warranty claims and sample deliveries
May assist in the coordination on larger projects in collaboration with project managers
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in interior design, architecture, or a related field.
Other Required Qualifications Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience Three (3) years of interior design related experience, including knowledge of ADA accessibility design and building code requirements.
Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other 3D modeling and rendering tools
Desire to obtain and maintain NCIDQ professional accreditation
Preferred Educational Qualifications An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Direct experience collaborating with architectural firms on higher education building projects
Experience with dealer coordination and reviewing purchase orders for accuracy
