Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Elmira College was the first college to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women, and is home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies. We are seeking a Web Content Manager to join the Communications & Marketing team. Elmira College seeks a Web Content Manager who is a strategic thinker and skilled communicator to lead the planning, creation, optimization, and ongoing management of content across the College’s primary web platforms. This role plays a critical part in advancing enrollment, engagement, and giving by ensuring that the College’s websites deliver clear, compelling, accessible, and data-informed experiences for prospective students, families, alumni, and donors. The Web Content Manager oversees web content strategy and execution for Elmira College’s externally facing web properties, including elmira.edu, map.elmira.edu, and the comprehensive campaign website. This position is ideal for someone who understands how content strategy, search optimization (SEO and emerging generative engine optimization), user experience, and analytics work together to drive institutional goals. In this collaborative and dynamic role, the Web Content Manager partners closely with colleagues in the Office of Communications & Marketing as well as departments across campus to support digital content needs, improve information architecture and usability, and ensure alignment with brand, accessibility, and governance standards. Essential Functions

Write, edit, and implement content optimized for search engine optimization (SEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) principles to improve discoverability in both traditional and AI-driven search environments Evaluate, refine, and maintain high-priority content across EC’s externally facing websites to strengthen clarity, engagement, and institutional impact Collaborate with the Director of Communications & Content Strategy and campus subject matter experts to produce clear, engaging, and brand-aligned content for web audiences Maintain and regularly update content that advances institutional priorities, including enrollment, fundraising, and alumni engagement, as well as career outcomes content on academic program pages to ensure accuracy Identify and address duplicated, overlapping, or outdated content to reduce redundancy and improve the overall user experience Work closely with the VP of Communications & Marketing and the comprehensive campaign consultants to ensure the campaign website reflects current phases, priorities, and goals Serve as a campus resource in the College’s content management system, providing guidance and support to all departments on content best practices and governance Respond to web support requests and content updates, as well as identify, resolve, and escalation website issues Assist with accessibility reporting using established tools to identify issues, track progress, and support compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA or higher standards Serve on the Provost’s Digital Accessibility Task Force Track and analyze website performance using Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to understand engagement, traffic sources, and user behavior Stay current on emerging digital trends, including generative engine optimization and share relevant findings and recommendations as appropriate Provide regular reporting and high-level insights to inform content strategy, identify trends, and recommend improvements Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; degree in communications, digital marketing, web design, journalism, English, or a related field preferred Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing and producing web content within a CMS environment Demonstrated experience with web content writing and editing, SEO best practices, web governance, and applied knowledge of emerging generative engine optimization (GEO) principles Experience evaluating website performance metrics, applying insights to improve content and support institutional goals Availability outside normal business hours in the event of an emergency (e.g., website outages, weather alerts, crisis communication, or major campus events) Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Proficiency in Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, and Looker Studio preferred Experience with Adobe Photoshop or other image editing tools preferred WORK LOCATION

On-site with the possibility of remote. Candidates in the NY/PA Twin Tiers region who can work on-site are preferred; however, a remote or hybrid arrangement may be considered for the right candidate. COMPENSATION

$58,000-62,353 STATUS
