This position will fill a key role on priority projects in support of the New York State Office of Mental Health’s mission. The goal of the Legacy Risk Remediation Projects is to rewrite legacy applications built on an aging infrastructure and antiquated technologies into new and currently supported coding platforms. This position will be responsible for UI/UX activities such as wireframing, building mockups and prototypes, providing demonstrations to stakeholders and development teams, etc.
Day-to-Day Tasks
Work in a collaborative team environment that includes project management, business analysis, information development, software development and quality assurance.
Analyze business requirements to design user interfaces.
Evaluate user interface designs and write user interface specifications.
Build wireframes using Figma if needed from business analysts.
Utilize Figma to build mock ups to demonstrate designs to the team and to users.
Provide CSS and HTML of prototypes (upon team’s agreement) to provide for use by the development team.
Perform accessibility testing of legacy and new UI to ensure they adhere to WCAG AA standards.
Utilize the NYS Design System to ensure all UI remains compliant and consistent.
Required Qualifications
84 Months Experience in web-based application user interface design which leverage emergent technologies and accessibility standards defined in World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
84 Months Experience in user interface design using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Balsamiq, UXPin, Figma or other visual design and wire-framing tools.
84 Months Experience with building and demonstrating UI prototypes.
84 Months Experience using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and responsive design coding for mobile devices.
60 Months Experience in using development tracking tools like Jira.
60 Months Experience working with TFS/Azure DevOps and navigating projects in Visual Studio.
48 Months Experience troubleshooting styling and browser compatibility issues.
48 Months Experience with designing web based health care applications which contain Health Care data that fall under HIPAA Protected Health Information (PHI).
