Rate of Pay: $65,000- $75,000

Job Description The First Assistant Golf Professional is a key leader in the Golf operations team and plays a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional member and guest experience at The Grand Golf Club. This position ensures smooth daily operations, supports player services, manages tournaments, and contributes to the overall quality and professionalism of the golf professional staff program.

Key Responsibilities 1. Operations & Staff Leadership

Oversee and support all aspects of daily golf operations in collaboration with the Golf Operations Manager

Manage scheduling and uniform compliance for the professional staff

Participates in the interviewing and hiring process of golf operations

Develop the monthly professional staff meeting agenda in partnership with the Director of Golf/GM and Assistant General Manager of Golf

Lead monthly staff meetings and training sessions

Attend weekly department head meetings

2. Member & Guest Engagement

Provide professional and welcoming service to all members and guests

Play golf with members and guests to build relationships and enhance engagement

Directly approach members with guests to offer assistance

Offer private and group instruction, including club fittings and club repair services

3. Event & Tournament Oversight:

Oversee the planning and execution of all member tournaments and events

Assist in all other Resort and Corporate outings

4. Technology & Administrative Tools:

Proficiently operate essential platforms, including the following or its equivalent: Golf Genius, Dataworks, Resort Suite, Unifocus, Birch Street, Dayforce, Microsoft Office

5. Professional Conduct & Club Representation:

Represent The Grand Golf Club with courtesy, tact, and professionalism in all interactions

Ensure full compliance with policies, procedures, safety guidelines, and Club Rules & Regulations

Maintain a clean and organized workstation, Golf Shop counter area, and retail space

Actively participate in PGA Chapter and Section sanctioned meetings and maintain an active membership with the PGA of America

6. Safety and Maintenance:

Ensure that all golfers and caddies adhere to safety standards.

Perform light maintenance duties, such as checking the tee area and ensuring it is clean and properly equipped

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

Active PGA Membership

PGA Level 3 Associate or PGA Class A required – or PGA Level 2 Associate with 3 years of relevant management experience

Previous golf industry experience required with private and resort course experience preferred

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Ability to lead and manage team members effectively

Must be comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays

Proficient in using computer software and other golf-specific systems

Must possess a valid driver’s license

Strong command of English required; additional languages are a plus

Detail-oriented with a proactive and positive attitude

Ability to build rapport with members and learn their preferences

Physical Demands

Standing and Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, often up to 8 hours per day, on various terrain, including grass, sand, and uneven surfaces

Lifting and Carrying: Regularly required to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, such as golf bags, range equipment, or other materials.

Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to assist with set up, or maintain areas of the clubhouse and golf course

Outdoor Conditions: Ability to work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind, while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor

Visual and Auditory Demands: Must have good vision and hearing to monitor members, guests, colleagues, and course activity, as well as to communicate effectively.

Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle small tools, golf-related equipment, and perform light maintenance tasks as needed
