Job Summary Supermicro is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Global Trade Analyst to support the company’s global export compliance operations. This role will focus on the technical classification of hardware, software, and technology under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) while supporting the automation and optimization of trade compliance processes. The Sr. Global Trade Analyst will work closely with engineering, product management, legal, and IT teams to ensure accurate export classifications, maintain regulatory compliance, and develop scalable compliance solutions through automation and system integration. This role is critical in supporting Supermicro’s growth in high-performance computing, AI infrastructure, and cloud technologies while maintaining compliance with U.S. and international export control regulations.

Export Classification

Perform detailed ECCN classifications for hardware, software, and technology under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and other global regulations.

Analyze technical product specifications, engineering documentation, and product architecture to determine proper export control classifications.

Classify advanced computing products including servers, GPUs, AI accelerators, storage systems, networking equipment, and associated software.

Maintain and manage the company’s export classification database, ensuring accurate ECCN assignments are maintained within internal systems and ERP platforms.

Support commodity classification requests (CCATS) and assist with technical data preparation when required.

Ensure classification consistency across global product portfolios and provide documentation to support regulatory audits or inquiries.

Trade Compliance Automation & Systems

Support the development and implementation of automated export compliance workflows within ERP and trade management systems.

Partner with IT and compliance teams to improve automation of product classification, export screening, and compliance data management.

Assist in integrating trade compliance tools into SAP or other enterprise systems to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes.

Develop data-driven reporting and dashboards to support export compliance monitoring and audit readiness.

Identify opportunities to improve classification workflows, documentation management, and screening automation.

Regulatory Compliance Support

Ensure compliance with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), OFAC sanctions programs, and global export control regulations.

Support export license determinations and license exception analysis related to classified products.

Assist with internal export control reviews related to advanced computing, encryption, and emerging technologies.

Maintain export compliance documentation to support internal audits, government inquiries, and regulatory reporting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with engineering and product development teams to obtain technical information required for accurate export classification.

Support supply chain, logistics, and sales teams by providing export classification guidance and regulatory interpretation.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure export compliance requirements are integrated into product lifecycle processes.

Process Improvement

Identify and implement improvements to export classification processes and documentation management.

Support the continuous improvement of export compliance procedures to align with evolving regulatory requirements.

Monitor regulatory developments impacting export controls for advanced technologies and communicate relevant updates to internal teams.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in international trade, supply chain, engineering, business, related field or related work experience.

8+ years of experience in export compliance, with a strong focus on export classification under the EAR.

Experience supporting compliance for technology, electronics, semiconductor, or high-performance computing products.

Strong knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and export classification methodologies.

Experience classifying products under ECCNs related to advanced computing, electronics, and encryption technologies.

Experience working with ERP systems, trade compliance software, or automation tools.

Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering documentation.

Experience using data analytics, automation tools, or scripting for compliance process improvements is highly desirable.

Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with advanced computing export controls (e.g., GPUs, AI accelerators, servers, and high-performance computing systems).

Familiarity with trade automation platforms or global trade management systems (SAP GTS, SAP Global Trade Services, etc.).

Experience supporting classification databases and large product portfolios.

Professional certifications such as CUSECO, CES, or similar trade compliance certifications.

Salary Range $100,000 - $155,000 The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
