We are looking for a

Trade Compliance Specialist

based at our Houston Northwest Technology Center in

Houston, Texas .

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for oversight of the import/export compliance program. This includes, but is not limited to, classification, valuation, country of origin assessment, free trade agreement qualification, audits, supervision of Company’s third‑party Customs brokers and freight forwarders. The role assists in establishing and implementing a trade compliance program, including new company policies and procedures across all business functions, and provides day‑to‑day operational support and guidance for employees at various locations.

What You Will Do

Create Standard Operating Procedures and assist all business units in implementing the procedures

Respond to inquiries regarding classification, duty rates, documentation requirements, and other import or export requirements to ensure timely import or export clearance

Advise on preferential duty programs and free trade agreements

Develop, implement and maintain export control processes and technology control plan

Provide support in ECCN and/or HTS classification of products

Develop review processes for import/export obligations for customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure partners follow our standard policies and operating procedures

Lead review of responses to CF 28’s, 29’s or other Customs inquiries

Ensure proper and timely filing of all post‑entry reconciliation including voluntary tenders, protests or Post Summary Corrections

Keep abreast of changes in trade regulations to ensure company compliance

Develop and conduct trade compliance audits for all business units and third‑party brokers and forwarders, monitoring corrective actions to ensure compliance

Conduct trade compliance trainings to functional groups in general US import & export regulations and requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field

5 years of experience in the Export Administration Regulations, U.S. Customs Regulations, and Office of Foreign Assets Control Regulations, etc.

Hands‑on experience in a leadership role driving a culture of change and continuous improvement

Strong communication skills to effectively conduct compliance trainings

Strong budgetary disciplines, with the ability to analyze, prioritize and translate results into meaningful financial impact

Well organized and able to manage multiple concurrent tasks

Able to apply technical knowledge of regulations to business transactions

Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

5‑10 years of work experience in the Export Administration Regulations, U.S. Customs Regulations, and Office of Foreign Assets Control Regulations, etc.

Licensed Customs broker preferred
