Federal & SLED Business Development Specialist
Sennovate Inc., San Ramon, CA, United States
Federal & SLED Business Development Specialist
Location:
San Ramon, CA (Remote-Friendly)| Type:
Full-Time| Reports To:
CEO
About the Role Sennovate is an SBA 8(a) certified cybersecurity MSSP. We are looking for a sharp, self‑driven Government Contracts & BD Specialist who knows how to leverage that certification to win Federal, SLED, and DoD contracts. You will own the full lifecycle of government opportunity pursuit — from scouting sole‑source and set‑aside RFPs to maximizing our 8(a) advantage across every vehicle and channel available. This is not a support role. You run the hunt.
What You'll Own
Scout, qualify, and track opportunities across SAM.gov, GovWin, BidSpeed, FedConnect, DIBBS, and state/local procurement portals daily.
Analyze RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and Sources Sought notices for fit against Sennovate's capabilities (MDR/SOC, IAM, Product Security, Cloud Infrastructure).
Build and manage a pipeline of government opportunities with clear go/no‑go recommendations tied to win probability, set‑aside eligibility, and margin potential.
Lead proposal coordination — own compliance matrices, outline responses, pull in technical SMEs, and drive submissions to deadline. No excuses.
Navigate the U.S. government contracting system: FAR/DFARS, GSA Schedules, GWAC vehicles (STARS III, Alliant 2, 8(a) STARS), BPAs, IDIQs, and task order competitions.
Maximize Sennovate's SBA 8(a) certification — actively pursue sole‑source opportunities, 8(a) set‑asides, and competitive set‑aside contracts across Federal and SLED.
Drive 8(a) Program strategy: identify Mentor‑Protégé and Joint Venture opportunities, structure teaming agreements, and ensure SBA compliance throughout.
Track contract vehicles and maintain registrations (SAM.gov, DSBS, state vendor portals, CAGE/DUNS codes).
Build relationships with government CORs, COs, and prime contractors to position Sennovate as a go‑to subcontractor or JV partner.
Report weekly to the CEO: pipeline status, pursuit priorities, and win/loss analysis. Numbers, not narratives.
You Bring
3+ years hands‑on experience in U.S. government contracting — Federal, SLED, or DoD. You know the system, not just the theory.
Deep working knowledge of SAM.gov, GovWin (Deltek), BidSpeed, FedConnect, and state procurement platforms.
Proven ability to read, dissect, and respond to government solicitations (RFP/RFQ/RFI) with winning proposals.
Strong understanding of set‑aside contracts, SBA 8(a) program mechanics, Mentor‑Protégé agreements, and Joint Venture structures.
Familiarity with FAR/DFARS, GSA Schedules, GWAC vehicles, and IDIQ/BPA contracting models.
Experience working with or inside an MSSP, cybersecurity firm, or IT services company is a strong plus.
Excellent written communication — you can translate technical capability into government‑speak that scores.
Self‑starter mindset. You don't wait to be told what to pursue. You find it, qualify it, and bring it to the table.
Nice to Have
Active relationships with Federal/SLED contracting officers or prime integrators.
Experience with CMMC, FedRAMP, or StateRAMP compliance positioning.
Capture management certification (e.g., Shipley, APMP) or equivalent training.
Background in cybersecurity services (SOC, IAM, vulnerability management).
Why Sennovate Sennovate is an SBA 8(a) certified cybersecurity MSSP trusted by mid‑market and enterprise clients to deliver managed SOC, IAM, and Product Security services. Our 8(a) certification opens the door to sole‑source Federal contracts and set‑aside competitions that most firms can't touch. We are building our government practice — and you will be the one who turns that certification into revenue. Direct line to the CEO. No red tape. Just results.
