The Clubhouse Director I directs and manages overall daily operations of the Clubhouse under the control of the organization with the primary concern for comprehensive, outcome-driven programs and service delivery. Also supervises and trains staff (direct and indirect reports), handles personnel issues, manages facility, develops and manages a budget, actively engages and supports the Clubhouse Board, and manages community relations, volunteers, and membership administration. Who you are
On your resume. Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience. Minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate staff. Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems. Working knowledge of budget preparation, control and management. Skilled at fundraising events. Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders. Must possess current valid driver’s license and have clean driver’s abstract. Must pass a background check, drug screening, and complete all applicable pre-employment requirements to meet organizational standards. What you’ll do
Leadership
Establish Clubhouse programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and create an outcome-driven Club experience that facilitates achievement of youth development outcomes. Oversees day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals. Carries out program activities whenever necessary or when short-staffed. Approach staff challenges and collaborative efforts with a positive attitude. Accountable for the hiring, training and supervision of program staff, including the enforcement of operational policies and procedures and performance management. Accountable for meeting organizational standards for staff reporting and resource allocation. Accountable for facility cleanliness and organization of program spaces. Builds and maintain partnerships with families, schools and community Participates and where appropriate lead state-wide program quality improvement efforts. Promotion of programs to attract and retain members, ensure participation in impact programs. Ensures that staff help design and execute a wide range of programs to achieve impact as described above. Ensures that staff creates a positive impact in all program areas. Accountable for managing program volunteers and maintaining the safety of members and program quality through effective volunteer supervision and engagement. Strategic Planning
Plan, develop, implement and evaluate overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation. Prepares staff schedules Prepares and submits required written reports, letters, memos, etc., on a timely basis to the Admin Team. Handles deposits and banking transactions for Clubhouse. Provides new staff basic orientation for their job (within 30 days of employment) and, together with the BGCH leadership, provides annual orientation for all program staff, including job responsibilities, organization culture, organizational goals, policies, procedures, etc. Resource Management
Manage Clubhouse financial resources, assisting in the development of annual budgets. Control expenditures against budget. Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the Club’s physical properties and equipment, including use of facilities by outside groups. Ensure compliance with organization policies. Recruit, manage and provide career development opportunities for Club staff and volunteers. Conduct regular staff meetings. Resource Development
Work closely with the Corporate Development Department, CEO, and the Clubhouse Branch Board to raise funds through the various development initiatives run by the Club. Partnership Development
Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations. Marketing and Public Relations
Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community. Maintains good public relations and communicates “success stories” with the Admin team for use in promoting the organization. Supports organizational marketing goals as directed. Facilities Management
Ensure the Clubhouse Facility and all adjoining property including equipment and supplies, are well maintained, clean, and safe to use by Club Members. Additional Responsibilities
Purchase and/or approve purchase of supplies and equipment. Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments. Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan. Assume other duties as assigned. Relationships
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Maintain contact with Branch boards. Regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel. External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club. BGCH Values
