BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – NORTHWEST OF ENGLAND / SCOTLAND (HYBRID)

As one of the UK’s leading commercial painting and decorating contractors, we are looking to further expand our footprint across the North of England and Scotland. We have a new vacancy for a full time Business Development Manager to help drive new opportunities and strengthen relationships across our key markets.

Location:

Northwest of England / Scotland (Hybrid)

Salary:

Competitive Salary + up to 20% performance bonus

The Role This is a relationship-led business development role focused on identifying and securing new project opportunities while strengthening partnerships with contractors, developers and property clients. The successful candidate will work closely with our estimating and contracts teams to convert opportunities into profitable projects, while also helping to build a strong pipeline of future work. The role will involve both longer-term pipeline development and short-term project opportunities, supporting the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Develop relationships with main contractors, developers, property managers and asset owners

Identify new project opportunities across commercial, industrial, hospitality, healthcare and residential sectors

Generate tender opportunities and support the commercial team in securing new work

Identify and secure short-term refurbishment and decorating packages through contractor relationships

Maintain a structured pipeline of opportunities using the company CRM system

Represent Story Decorating Group at client meetings, industry events and networking opportunities

Monitor market activity and identify upcoming projects and procurement opportunities

Work closely with estimating and contracts teams to support successful delivery of projects

What We’re Looking For

Experience in business development within painting and decorating, specialist contracting, building services or a related sector

Strong relationship building skills with contractors, developers or property clients

A proactive and commercially minded approach to generating opportunities

Ability to identify and convert project-based opportunities

Strong communication and organisational skills

Full UK driving licence

Desirable Experience

Experience within painting and decorating or specialist coatings

Understanding of construction procurement and frameworks

Knowledge of the North of England or Scotland construction market
