COMMUNITY RELATIONS COORD

Job Summary Perform duties as assigned by the Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer to ensure positive relationships and collaboration between the hospital and the community, including but not limited to:

External Events

: Works with the community relations manager on external events and outreach activities engaging the community. Maintains activities in the management system, including, but not limited to, planning, scheduling, coordinating advertising/promotions needed with the marketing and communications department, implementation, budget management, and reporting.

Community Support

: Coordinates hospital tours and visit requests from schools, businesses and community organizations. May also assists with other visits and tours as assigned. Coordinates community donations, parade participation and events with partnering organizations such as MORA and Project Search. Some of this coordination my involve working with other departments in the organization.

Speaker’s Bureau

: Coordinates and manages a speaker’s bureau to support community education topics needed in the community. Presents appropriate community speaking opportunities and maintains a working knowledge of potential, relevant internal speakers and resource topics they can address.

Community Collaboration

: Assists with collaborative community projects including schools, churches and community organizations. Serves as a regional liaison for the Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNA) goals of the regional Forrest Health facilities and assists in aligning with overall Forrest Health community goals. Attends the community partnership group meetings to assist with collaboration efforts.

Community Programs

: Directly responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of

Spirit of Women’s Spirit Girls Program

including annual selection process, meetings and volunteer events. Assists community relations manager with setup of activities and events as needed for programs.

Project Management and Reporting:

Creates and maintains accurate data for CHNA Report, FH Goals Report, Community Benefits Report, Spirit Girl membership and hours reports. Works within the project management system to create and maintain projects aligned with community relations goals. Assists community relations manager with the database management for the Spirit Girls program, including membership, service hours, and calendar of activities.

Internal Volunteerism:

Develops and maintains a process for hospital wide employees/staff to volunteer and participate in community events supported by the health system. Staff Offering Service (SOS) works with the Volunteer and Guest Services manager to promote and support.

Other duties:

Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

Interacts and converses with customers on a regular basis to align corporate objectives with customer needs.

Identifies and effectively communicates any gaps, threats and opportunities in public sector and community that may surround or improve the hospital’s brand and reputation. Reports to appropriate parties in a timely manner.

Produces effective programs that support the hospital’s mission in a timely and effective manner.

Adheres to budgetary constraints while handling departmental operations and producing quality programs.

Works effectively with departments, units and office managers and physicians to help promote services.

Qualifications Education/Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in business, public health, marketing, communications, advertising, public relations, journalism or related field strongly preferred.

Strong networking, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

Knowledge of healthcare services and local community dynamics preferred.

Experience in digital marketing initiatives and managing projects.

Able to communicate and interact with customers, both internal and external, to align corporate objectives with customer needs required.

Excellent grammar and writing skills required.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.

Proficient with Microsoft Office products preferred.

Work Experience A minimum of one year direct experience in public and/or community relations required.

Mental Demands Motivated team player, able to work in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple tasks and consistently meeting deadlines. Must be organized and able to work schedule as needed, including nights and weekends. Must possess good judgment, analytical and decision-making skills, be creative, communicate with others, and take direction. Must be able to research and gather information and make recommendations as needed. Must be detailed oriented and treat all customers, internal and external, with courtesy and respect.
