Position Summary The Digital Marketing and Social Media Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the mission and visibility of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES). As part of the CAES Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC), this position helps shape how audiences experience and engage with the college online, transforming narratives about research, teaching, and Extension into compelling digital content that reflects the impact of Georgia’s No. 1 industry.
Reporting to the Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager, the Digital Marketing and Social Media Coordinator contributes to a collaborative team dedicated to elevating the college’s brand and strengthening connections with students, faculty, alumni, and partners. Through creative storytelling, strategic campaign management, and data-informed decision-making, this role supports initiatives that inspire pride, encourage engagement, and extend the reach of the college’s work across Georgia and beyond.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
Ideal candidate is creative in nature, an analytical thinker capable of translating data into actionable insights, and comfortable speaking confidently on digital marketing and social media performance.
Demonstrated proficiency with SEO, GEO, and digital accessibility best practices.
Demonstrated proficiency with major social media platforms and analytics tools.
Demonstrated proficiency with email marketing tools, such as MailChimp.
Demonstrated proficiency with web management tools, such as WordPress.
Demonstrated proficiency with graphic design tools, such as Canva.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate content using tools like Google Analytics, Looker Studio, or email/social metrics platforms, such as Sprout Social.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple projects.
Demonstrated quality writing and digital marketing samples.
Physical Demands Normal office work setting. Driving as necessary to fulfill job duties.

Duties/Responsibilities Digital Marketing and Newsletter Coordination
Plan, create, and deliver digital marketing campaigns — including web properties, paid search campaigns, email newsletters, etc. — that drive digital engagement, strengthen brand visibility, and promote CAES research, instruction, and Extension.
Implement search and generative engine optimization best practices to ensure CAES content is easily discoverable, competitively positioned, and aligned with evolving search behaviors.
Develop and deliver engaging internal and external newsletters, maintaining audience lists, tracking performance, and implementing improvements for enhanced content distribution.
Partner with OMC creative and editorial units to support the production of visual and written content that will resonate with modern digital audiences.
Write, edit, and adapt content for web, social media, email, and other digital channels with a focus on clarity, accessibility, and performance.
Support strategic campaign initiatives by identifying organic and paid promotion opportunities and assisting with content creation, coordination, and reporting.
Assist the Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager with campaign budget management, including tracking expenses, organizing receipts, and supporting the business manager with accounting processes.
Social Media Coordination
Create and capture engaging social media content for flagship CAES and UGA Extension social media channels under the supervision of the Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager.
Test and evaluate content formats — such as infographics, short-form videos, carousels, and interactive storytelling — to optimize engagement and expand reach.
Provide on-site social media coverage of campus events and other storytelling opportunities.
Create and distribute social media toolkits to support college-wide and UGA Extension content needs.
Assist OIT in coordinating efforts with UGA Extension Canva Ambassadors.
Support paid social media campaigns for programs, initiatives, and events under the supervision of the Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager.
Performance Tracking and Analysis
Assist in establishing benchmarks and defining KPIs that reflect CAES’s impact across instruction, research, and Extension.
Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance metrics to improve engagement and optimize ROI, using data insights to inform strategic adjustments.
Produce clear, actionable reports, including quarterly updates, annual summaries, leadership impact reports, and stakeholder reports to demonstrate the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
Translate content performance data into insights that guide content planning, format experimentation, and distribution strategy, and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
Training and Internal Communications
Create and deliver training to CAES and UGA Extension faculty and staff, as well as other OMC team members, on digital marketing, search engine optimization, content creation, and social media best practices as necessary.
Research emerging trends in search and generative engine optimization, social media and higher education marketing, as well as best practices in digital marketing and digital accessibility, recommending and implementing innovative strategies to enhance online engagement.
Represent OMC on college- and campus-wide committees as needed.
Perform additional duties on various other digital marketing projects as assigned.
