The Tribal Land & Resources Engagement (TLRE) Specialist will work with the TLRE Team to foster tribal member engagement with, and access to, tribal lands and resources such as first foods and traditional medicine. The position will be responsible for field work to improve access such as road repair, trail building, etc. They will also develop land and resource engagement activities and access opportunities and work on integrating Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) into land and resource stewardship initiatives, fostering tribal member engagement, and supporting tribal sovereignty by supporting the exercise of inherent rights of the Snoqualmie Tribal Members. Develop and oversee Tribal efforts to facilitate safe and coordinated Tribal Member access to Tribal Ancestral Lands owned by the Tribe, other governments, and community partners. This will include a significant amount of field work with tasks ranging from road maintenace to trail building, and construction and maintenance of infrastructure that enables tribal member access to tribal lands. Coordinate and facilitate opportunities to center and connect with Tribal Members in matters related to TEK and cultural practices. Participate in and/or contribute to TEK matters related to Tribal, Federal, State, and local laws and regulations. Collaborate with Governmental Affairs & Special Projects tower team members on plans and implementation of plans and projects relevant to TEK. Participate and support public outreach and education efforts and events. Assist with UAV data collection. Field data collection.

Familiarity with and interest in growing skills related to the Lushootseed language, or a commitment and openness to learn under the guidance of Tribal experts.
Education & Experience
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Anthropology, or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrate the ability to effectively perform the job duties.
Experience Required
Five (5) years or more of experience in land and cultural resource management, TEK integration, community engagement, and/or working to bolster the cultural practices of tribal members and/or equivalent experience.
Experience Preferred
Experience working with or for tribal government is strongly preferred. Ten (10) years or more of prior experience in tribal resource protection and/or use of Traditional Ecological Knowledge. Prior experience working with machinery.
Certifications/Licenses
Must have and maintain a current and valid Washington State Driver’s License. Completion of a chainsaw safety training course, such as the Non-Fire Chainsaw Safety Course U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, WA LNI Chainsaw Safety, or equivalent.
Other Requirements
Must be able to pass a thorough pre-employment background and character investigation. Must agree to be subject to the Tribe's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.
Work Environment
The work environment includes an office environment in a controlled atmosphere building and frequently includes work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Hybrid work arrangements may be possible in accordance with the Tribe’s Telecommuting Policy. Weekend and evening hours will sometimes be required.

Additional Information
Compensation will be determined based on experience and starts at $76,159.67 per year. This position is a full-time position and employment is at will.
