VP - Retail Banking Manager

The Retail Banking Manager (RBM) serves as the bank’s retail leader and models The Western Way, consistently creating superior customer experiences and inspiring and coaching others to do the same. The RBM has two primary and related responsibilities –leading the retail team in effectively providing service to customers, and directly serving customers while modeling desired behavior. As such, the RBM is responsible for the successful recruitment, management, coaching, development, retention, and overall leadership of the retail team in accordance with Western’s vision, values and team guidelines, and for ensuring a superior customer experience, both individually and through the retail team, by establishing a customer relationship, gaining a thorough understanding of customer needs, identifying products and services to meet the customer’s needs, and actively partnering with teammates outside of the retail area, including but not limited to mortgage, business banking, investments, and support functions to meet other customer needs.

Duties And Responsibilities

Leadership: Leads all aspects of retail sales and service at the bank, and is accountable for the attainment of sales, service, and financial goals. Responsible for recruiting, coaching, developing, monitoring performance, and retaining a high-performing team. Leads weekly team, and one-on-one meetings to encourage open communication, active monitoring of team goals, and constant feedback to ensure the team has the right strategies, tools, and resources in place to meet sales and service goals.

Customer Experience: Models the creation of a superior customer experience for customers, and leads and supports team members in doing the same. Coaches the team with strategies for forming customer relationships, and delivering value-added solutions as a result of engaging in meaningful needs analysis’ with customers, to best determine how those needs can be met through available products and services, including those offered by internal partners. Sets individual and team goals, and coaches, monitors, and reports attainment of goals.

Partnering: Works on an individual and team basis to partner internally to establish cross-selling opportunities and use other internal resources to deepen our knowledge of the bank and its products.

Safety and Soundness: Serves as the bank’s security leader, maintaining compliance with laws and regulations, and security of the team and company and customer assets, to ensure a safe, sound, and compliant banking environment.

Community Involvement: Serves the community through volunteer efforts and involvement in community activities that create positive exposure for Western, and support and mentor team in these efforts.

Other responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree Required. 7-10 years in banking, 3+ years in management.
