Job Purpose: The Sign Maker and Inventory Specialist First Class is responsible for designing, fabricating, installing, and maintaining high-quality DOT (i.e. FDOT, GDOT, SHA, IDOT, CDOT and NCDOT) signage that meets each state’s requirements. This role combines accuracy, technical skills and hands‑on craftsmanship to deliver compliant solutions. Duties and Responsibilities Design and layout signage using industry-standard graphic design software such as and not limited to: Adobe Illustrator, SignCAD or CorelDRAW. Fabricate signs using materials such as vinyl, metal through cutting, printing, laminating, engraving, and assembly. Ensure warehouse and inventory oversight. Install signage at sites using ladders, lifts, and other equipment. Ensure all signage complies with local, state, and federal regulations, zoning laws, and safety standards. Conduct quality control inspections. Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in a clean and safe condition. Determine and ship signs. Call in locate tickets for signpost placement. Provide excellent customer service and address modifications, concerns, or complaints in a professional manner. Skills

High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in traffic signage or graphic design or a related field preferred. Bachelor’s or associate degree preferred. Prior experience in sign making, printing, fabrication, or a related trade. Prior experience or capacity to oversee inventory. Experience operating fabrication equipment including printers, cutters, plotters, laminators, and basic hand and power tools. Ability to read and interpret measurements, drawings, blueprints, and work orders. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Creative problem‑solving skills and ability to translate concepts into finished products. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret state signage requirements and details. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Physical stamina to lift materials, stand for extended periods, and work at heights. Ability to meet RedSpeed vehicle operation requirements. Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when required. Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools, materials, and techniques. Experience Level

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
