Location: Central Ohio

Compensation: Antioch University offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes both direct and indirect pay. The compensation will be based on experience, education, knowledge, credentials, and a consideration of the difficulty and complexity of the position. The salary minimum for this position is $80,000.00.

Position Overview

Antioch University Graduate School of Nursing and Health Professions invites applications for a learner-centered core faculty member to serve as Program Director for our Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program. Situated within the Graduate School of Nursing and Health Professions and reporting directly to the Dean, this is a 12-month appointment. The successful candidate will possess a proven aptitude for online instruction and a deep commitment to mentoring the next generation of athletic training professionals. Core faculty have responsibility in all four areas of faculty engagement including student learning, scholarship, institutional citizenship, and community service. Primary responsibilities as core faculty include teaching core and elective curricula, supervising advanced clinical practicum, and overseeing Master’s projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Program Director holds authority and responsibility for program management of the MSAT program and contributes to the following:

  • Maintaining full program accreditation through adherence to Commission on Accreditation for Athletic Training Education (CAATE) standards, including report preparation and site visit leadership.
  • Overseeing development, implementation and continuous evaluation of curriculum.
  • Partnering with enrollment management to drive recruitment strategies and coordinate the admissions process into the program.
  • Advising, counseling and communicating with students to ensure appropriate student satisfaction and support through degree completion.
  • Recruiting, reviewing, and recommending full and part time faculty hires.
  • Assigning faculty to courses and collaborating with faculty for workloads.
  • Preparing the schedule of classes.
  • Serving as a liaison to School councils and university committees.
  • Implementing the current policies of the unit, School, and University.
  • Maintaining and processing student records and informing students of their standing and progress toward degrees.
  • Overseeing program budget.
  • Working in close alignment with the Dean to ensure the program’s multi-regional growth, through the identification of regional faculty and strategic external partnerships.
  • The successful candidate should be able to infuse health equity throughout the curriculum and contribute to the university’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging while helping students see health through a social justice lens.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DAT) from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Current, unencumbered, certification as an athletic trainer (ATC), in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC)
  • Possession of a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number with the appropriate health care field designation
  • A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in a higher education setting with a documented history of curriculum development and student assessment
  • At least four (4) years of professional experience practicing as an athletic trainer
  • Evidence of an active scholarly agenda, including publications, presentations, or related professional contributions to the field of Athletic Training
  • Experience and proficiency in online teaching and virtual student mentoring
  • Direct experience with CAATE accreditation processes, such as self-studies, annual reporting, or site visit preparation
  • A demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice within clinical practice and academic environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous program leadership experience serving as director or chair
  • Innovative pedagogy for program expansion

Hours of Employment

This is a full-time position serving a national university, M-F hours vary. A work schedule will be established in consultation with the Dean.

Work Location

The employee must reside in Central Ohio. Remote/Hybrid work will be authorized in consultation with the Dean.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands and fingers, and talk or hear. This is an active position, involving walking, climbing, lifting, stooping, and bending in the accomplishment of duties. Must be able to lift in excess of 25 pounds. Must be able to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain or snow.
