Job Purpose

As a Senior Biostatistician within the NCRI Biostatistics group, you will assist statistical operations—including design, analysis, validation, and reporting—supporting clinical research and investigational product development in neurodegenerative diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Develop statistical analysis plans for clinical trials, observational studies, and other biomedical research projects.
  • Conduct statistical analyses using SAS and R for longitudinal outcomes, survival data, and complex study designs.
  • Generate progress reports for data and safety monitoring boards and assist in report design.
  • Develop programs for data manipulation and error detection to ensure data integrity.
  • Perform power calculations, determine sample size requirements, and advise on experimental design.
  • Assist with statistical analyses for scientific manuscripts, drafting methods sections, preparing tables and figures, and collaborating on interpretation.
  • Review protocols for statistical considerations and provide guidance for grants and funding proposals.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and mentoring of statistical programmers and biostatisticians.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Life Science, or a closely related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of professional experience in academic medicine or pharmaceutical industry, with experience across all study phases from design to publication.
  • Proficiency with SAS or R and strong background in statistical programming.
  • Ability to explain statistical concepts to non‑statistical collaborators.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet timelines.
  • Self‑motivated with a commitment to producing high‑quality, on‑time deliverables and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset.

Working Conditions

This is a hybrid role with both in‑person and remote work. Employees may work remotely full‑time, subject to supervisor negotiation, and must have reliable internet access. Periodic onsite attendance at MGH may be required for meetings, sponsor audits, or regulatory inspections, with advanced notice.

Salary

Annual range: $93,953.60 – $136,739.20.
