Job Summary:

The Director, Pharmacy manages drug utilization and expense in order to achieve specific budget targets, while supporting Prominence Health Plan’s (PHP) mission and goals. In this capacity, the Director:

  1. Develops, implements, monitors and, as needed, refines a comprehensive pharmacy program for the provision of quality, cost-effective pharmaceuticals for PHP members.
  2. Manages daily operations associated with administering pharmacy benefits.
  3. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards associated with pharmacy department operations and benefit plan administration.
  4. Participates in development of disease management programs, QI initiatives, provider network education efforts and other PHP projects, as related to pharmaceutical and prescribing issues and implements programs to support enterprise objectives.

Regulatory Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree strongly preferred, current pharmacy license required; ASHP-accredited residency preferred
  • Medicare Part D experience a plus
  • >5 years’ experience in managed care and/or integrated delivery systems
  • > 5 years’ experience in managing staff and department operations
  • Experience with Pharmacy Benefit Management, Pharmaceutical Contracting, and Pharmacy Utilization Management
  • Experience working with physician groups and their staff

Skills

  • Ability to organize, interpret and distill large volumes of data formats and accurately communicates issues to all constituents, i.e. providers, administration, and staff. Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in pharmacy computer applications, claims/billing processing and clinical information systems.
  • Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to employ strategic thinking and planning.
  • Excellent management skills, ability to multi-task, customer-focused orientation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively at all levels within the organization.
