Position Overview

The Executive Director (ED) is the chief executive and strategic leader of Hill House, responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, ensuring financial and operational sustainability, and stewarding its historic assets. Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with Hill House’s sole corporate members, the ED provides leadership across governance, finance, facilities management, programs, and fundraising.

The ED plays a central role in supporting Hill House’s complex governance structure by partnering closely with the Board and the sole corporate member to ensure compliance, transparency, and effective decision‑making in service of the organization’s long‑term sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a program‑revenue‑driven operating model, requiring a strong understanding of earned income, enrollment‑based budgeting, cost controls, and long‑term financial planning.
  • Partner closely with the Board of Directors to ensure compliance, transparency, and effective decision‑making.
  • Oversee governance, finance, facilities management, programs, and fundraising operations.
  • Provide leadership in capital planning and property oversight for aging or historic facilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of senior nonprofit leadership experience, including executive or comparable roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in complex governance environments, financial management, and property oversight.
  • Strong understanding of earned income, enrollment‑based budgeting, cost controls, and long‑term financial planning.
  • Experience with capital planning for aging or historic facilities.

Compensation & Benefits

Hill House offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The compensation range for this position annually is between $190,000 – $210,000. Health, retirement, PTO, and other benefits are available.
